Everytime I hear Chino. I think of one of them Mexican gang bangers who pull their white socks up to their knees and long shorts so there is no skin showing, while wearing a wife beater for a shirt and a Bandana. No idea why

When you and a girlfriend visit her friend in the Peace Corps on Nevis and you all decide to hike up a mountain, don't make fun of Peace Corps dudes for wearing knee-high socks and knee-length shorts together. When you come down the mountain and your legs are full of spiky grass and bug bites and their legs are not, trust me, you'll understand.

This line of reasoning probably doesn't apply to South Central LA, though.

Found a toad in youngest kid’s cargo shorts once when doing laundry. It was still alive and I was happy it wasn’t a snake.

I don't know for sure but based upon the fact that it was about 1993 I'm guessing they were not cargo shorts. That seems a bit early for the cargo shorts trend to have really hit.

Since you people mostly went to ISU, which invented the atomic bomb and thus ended WW2, how can any of you be anti-cargo shorts? They were probably the second most important invention during WW2 and if the air force pilots and crew weren't wearing cargo shorts (to hold various tools, fasteners and loose chunks of uranium) they may not have been able to deliver the bombs that ended the war.

Why do you need shorts to hang down past your knee? Isn't that called a capri? (women's clothing?)

I'm old enough to remember my mother and aunt calling them "Pedal Pushers." But we also called flip-flops "Thongs," so.
