Cargo Shorts

BTW ran this by my daughter yesterday and she is a teen. She broke it down pretty nice. She basically told me that as a father I am supposed to dress like an adult man and if a lot of adult males are wearing cargo it's fine. She said just don't try and dress like a high school kid or I will really look like a dork. So she went with Cargo being not cool, but understandable and I don't look horrible
This was pretty similar to my teenage daughter's reasoning. She said it's better for Dad-aged men to wear cargo shorts (without the bulging leg pockets) because of the length than to wear non-cargo shorts that hang above your knees.

People are aware you can buy non-cargo shorts with many different length inseams, right?

If I somehow slip into another dimension where I'm 16 again I'll consider it.

Yes, but finding them is more difficult. I've also found that 10.5" inseam cargo shorts hang lower than 10.5" inseam non-cargo shorts. Sure, I can wear them a little lower at the waist and that is fine for somebody like me with rock-hard abs but it doesn't look good on everybody.

Why do you need shorts to hang down past your knee? Isn't that called a capri? (women's clothing?)

Pretty sure you have to be a paramedic to wear the black ones.

They are also usefull if you and your friends wants to look like swat team members or high speed operatives. Then claim you were once part of Seal Team 6. Not seal team 2 though.

I always thought the older you got, the shorter your shorts got. (At least that’s the way it was back when I was growing up in the 90’s/00’s.)
Now it has changed to the younger boys wear shorter shorts and the dads wear cargo shorts below the knee??

For the record, regardless of age, I think the best length of shorts should hit at or just above the knee when standing. (Not below and not too short)

You are correct. I should say to the knee or just a bit above it.

On a man, you can refer to them as manpris and they are awful, even when Iron Man wears them.

Sitting at Alluvial on Saturday it was interesting to see how little attention my friends cargo shorts received when about 20 local Socialists showed up.
