Super cool. Any way you could elaborate what exactly you work on and contribute to these? I'm just curious is all. Sounds fun.

It changes a lot from property to property, but basically the job is taking photos of assets and then adapting them to 3D plush toys or figurines, taking graphics and applying them to packaging. Sometimes it's very literal work nitpicking, other times you end up making something almost from scratch. The little figures here have exaggerated heads so it became something completely from scratch, the plush toys are pretty inventive and require a lot of creativity...sometimes we even have to get actors agents to sign off on likeness which is crazy when you're talking about a 3mm "face" on a tiny figure...it's actually a reason to prefer characters with masks or face makeup. For that Spiderman scene I showed with vulture the studio was really involved and had us putting him in all kinds of situations in the clouds before settling on that.

Who would have guessed Robert Redford would be one of the better villains?

Sweet. Have you ever gotten any new character images to make toys of prior to the public seeing them or even that character being known to be in a movie??

This is a crazy good full history of the MCU including movies, TV and tie-in comics for those interested. It is a long read, but well worth it to paint a full picture of the MCU. Man, this thing has built up a lot of history through all its media. Its really pretty cool seeing how everything intertwines.

Happens quite a bit, at first I really geeked out and sometimes still exciting but really it just means I can't talk as much in threads like this as I would have before. It's actually a relief when a new trailer hits revealing more info publicly. Once we were a very early toy partner for an animated movie that got delayed twice...it was nearly two and a half years before I could show anyone the work we did.

I always love comments like this from Feige about whether or not they are currently working on integrating the X-Men into the MCU because the bull-crap meter always hits about 1,000,000 every time they do. Feige is a smart guy and I guarantee the minute a deal with Fox even became a possibility, he was running scenarios, exactly like what they did when they were negotiating for Spider-Man. With Spider-Man, after the fact, we learned that Feige had worked up an entire future plan for the MCU WITH Spider-Man and one WITHOUT him, particularly with their upcoming Civil War movie. I guarantee he has done the exact same thing here. The latest news is that the possibility of this deal happened started about a year ago, so yeah, there has been some strategizing. They would be stupid not to.

"You’re right, it’s too far out to talk about whether it will happen of not. We’re not working on it in any way, shape or form. We’ve got five films on the docket we’ve already announced that are taking a big percent of our time

Kevin Feige was also quoted this weekend that the next Spider-Man film will begin filming in London in July and that Spider-Man will actually be traveling "across the globe." Feige's quote:

“We start filming early July,” Feige said. “We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there’s another reason we’re shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he’ll spend some time in other parts of the globe.”

Here is James Cameron spouting off his mouth again bashing superhero films. Dude, seriously, just shut up. I've completely lost all respect for you a long time ago, starting with when you talked about how good Terminator Genisys would be. Also, you do know your soon-to-be future boss is Disney right?????? Maybe not the smartest thing in the world to be bashing their other products. With that said, I absolutely loved Kevin Feige's response:

Now that is a professional... not the arrogant James Cameron. Maybe Cameron needs to focus a little less on knocking others and focus a bit more on making an Avatar movie in less than 10 years.... correct that..... make any movie in less than 10 years.

That seems crazy, not because of the lack of Phase 4 but because they have another (and potentially final?) Avenger's film coming out next year.

Some yes, somewhat no I guess. There is no doubt Disney and Marvel have been gradually separating themselves from SDCC over the past few years simply because they don't really need them anymore in a lot of ways, especially now that we live in the youtube age and now that they have their own D23 conventions. Also, Disney has enough spotlight and clout on their own now that they will get the publicity they need with any announcement now regardless of when or where they announce it. Shoot, they could just schedule an announcement at El Capitan theater for all of Phase 4 and still get the buzz and save a pretty penny by going that route. Ultimately, SDCC is very expensive and becoming less and less needed for someone like Disney.

I guess I was thinking that this would have been the farewell tour for RDJ, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston and possibly others like Chris Hemsworth, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany and Jeremy Renner. It's great that they had everyone make an appearance last year. I bet you're right and they save it for a D23 Expo announcement.

Looks like the Russo Bros still have interest in doing more MCU movies even after Avengers 4. There is no doubt I love hearing this, especially since they are my favorite MCU directors by far. However, part of me kind of wants them to go over to Star Wars as a replacement for Rian Johnson on the new trilogy. In fact, I'd gladly take that over another MCU movie from them.

Best line in the article:

Cameron’s next big screen project is slated to be Avatar 2, which he plans to follow with Avatar 3, 4, and 5, which he has compared to The Godfather.

Dude, Avatar wasn't even that good... and there are going to be 4 more of them. If anybody should be concerned about fatigue, it's him. and to compare them to the Godfather is absolutely hilarious.

Plus, doesn't the guy make craploads of sequels? What's the difference?

Honest question here too, it's probably unlikely I make it to Black Panther before IW. How much required viewing is it going to be? I tried finding an illegal stream of it last night but I don't know how to work the internet like that anymore.

I liked Avatar a lot. But, it's weird... they show it a lot on TV, and I don't know if it's because of all the commercials, or the movie is just way too long, but it doesn't score high on the re-watch scale for me.

I don't think it's required pre-IW viewing at all. I don't recall much (if any?) overlap between it and other MCU characters.

I could be wrong though. I'm one of the few people out there that wasn't overly impressed by the movie.
