***Official 2018 NCAA Tourney Thread***

virginia loss reminded me of uab loss
isu was fresh off an amazing big 12 tourney run
move those conf tourneys back a week like the big 10 did
got to have tough guards that can drive in march
isu best team hoiball years had kane no surprise
wigg has one good ncaa tourney in him at least
wigg will be good need a good complimentary guard for him maybe babb next year
virginia settled for jump shots and got cold happens all the time to teams that get too hot shooting
happend to isu vs uab they thought they could shoot their way out of things
but the first thing to go when u get nervous is shooting
the shooting will come if u attack the paint
I was with you to start but you lost me about four sentences in

Um? Where did wigginton come into this?

I remember Virginia being on fire early in the first half. They went up 15 very early. ISU gets it back to 6 or 7 mid way through the 2nd half, and Niang gets in foul trouble. UVA pushed it back out to 10-12 the rest of the game. Niang had about 30 anyway. UVA was the better team, but ****, they were a 1 seed. I just think ISU might've had a chance if Niang doesn't have foul trouble is all.

Whatever makes you feel better.

Niang had 30 because VA let him get his and made anyone else try to beat them.

I will give you VA was hot early and that was out of character for them, but ISU was overwhelmed physically.

On a positive note it was a good reminder why I think Lard's upside is higher than McKay's.

Lard's ability would be much more of a force in a game like that.

I think we are in a time where you have to regularly start picking some big upsets every year. How many 2's have gone down in the first round or 2 in the last 7 years? And now #1 overall?

Yeah, they were better than us pretty much across the board.
That's the simplest explanation.
How many teams got us down and kept us down all year?
That was pretty much it.

Kind of strange to put the cutoff at 7 years? Only reason I could see to do that would be to include the 2 that happened in 2012..

Looks like there has been a whopping one 2 seed over a 15 in the last 5 years (20 attempts, or 5% chance).

So you can go ahead & pick a 15 or 16 to win in round one, might give you bragging rights in the off chance it happens. But more often than not, (by a wide margin) you'll be wrong. Also, in terms of bracket challenges (against other people), it seems like everyone forgets you only have to beat them. So if 80% of people have UVA in the final four but you don't, that game HELPED your bracket.

It doesn't make me feel any better. It was what it was.

Still think ISU could've had a shot if Niang wasn't playing with foul trouble and UVA didn't shoot like UMBC (in the second half last night) the first few minutes of that game. But, UVA played well enough to hold them off and they won.

Yeah, that Virginia team was anything but known for their shooting prowess, and they were lights out to start.

u really want to have good driving guards that can get into the paint to be successful in march
morris was more of a finesse point guard because all hoiberg cared about was nba style not winning in tourney
wiggington can have an amazing run in march hopefully next year or the following
prohm seems to understand how you win in march
and he let wigg just go to the rack all year
hoiberg and prohm should have pushed morris a little more to try to get his shoulder into
defense and drive the paint and at least dish
trey young is similar to morris but worst passer and better shooter
he struggled and his team loses and he is off to the nba
blah
we need a real ncaa championship run i think prohm can do it he knows
