Game of Thrones (Re)read Thread

Not rereading right now, but I just thought I would share this. When I first started reading my wife asked me how it was going. I said, "I'm in the first chapter and he introduced 3 characters and has already killed off two of them." I shared with her just a little later that I was in the next chapter and he had now killed off that third initial character. How fitting for this bloody saga.

Carry on.

I don't think many us feel that Sweet Robin is long for this world.

I agree. I think the smart play for Sansa is to marry Sweet Robin. Most likely will never consummate the marriage, and she ends up ruling the Vale in the safest castle in the realm, and would be the most eligible bachelorette in the world on Robin’s death.

Sansa is dead, she has a horde coming towards her. I think she'll get turned into a White Walker and Aria will have to kill her.

Sansa is still in the Eyrie, and she stills goes by Alyane.

I don't even know what that means. Why am I posting in a book thread when I haven't read them? I guess I should have posted this in the show thread. Anyway i think she's the next to die on the show.

Anyone see any rumors about WoW coming out anytime soon?

There was some big book retailer that supposedly had it listed for this fall, but then deleted it right away. Could mean something. Could mean nothing.

I’m not familiar with the the history of GoT. I’ve never watched the show (and don’t plan to) and just completed the books last month. How many more books are there supposed to be? Is the TV show true to the books? Is there any good fan fiction I can read while waiting for the next book to come out?

Regarding if the shows follow the books, I think they do early on. However, when the show started, the plan was for Martin to finish the last two books by the time the show got to that point. However, Martin has not finished it, and therefore, the show had to go in its own direction. I remember reading that the show's producers/writers have talked with Martin to get his ideas on how the books, characters, and the story would end. But I am not sure if that will flow into the books.

You don't need fan fiction. Martin has plenty of other stuff that he's written in teh ASOIAF world. Dunk & Egg is a good place to start. Also, the World of Ice and Fire is an awesome book that really fleshes out the universe that he's created. Honestly, that's the most impressive thing that Martin has done, in my opinion. He's created this world that is just incredibly detailed. After having read a lot of the history, when you re-read the books you see that nothing is done on accident. Almost every character has a backstory or familial history, even minor ones who only show up for a page or two. Even if Martin fails to complete the two final books in the series, we can look forward to people creating tons of content set in the universe that he created. His wordbuilding ability is incredible, and in my opinion is rivaled only by Tolkien and Star Wars.
