Marial Shayok Commits to ISU

Do i have to use the app to listen to the podcasts? When i click on the link, all it does is jiggle the app link at the top of website. Its like there’s a block on it. Thanks again.
I always listen to it on my computer using google chrome. I just tried it and it didn't work for me either. I listened to a podcast from one of KXNO's other shows earlier today so they may just be doing maintenance on it right now.

Thanks.

Iowa State could be really f'in good according to people within the program. They are very high on the incoming freshmen and the guys that are sitting out this year.

On a lot of other teams they would be, but for ISU they ended up playing that stretch 4 and stayed inside a lot more. Hogue and Ejim were often our biggest post threats in their years here.

Those guys were not post players. Nader was mentioned. Completely a 3. Clyburn was a 3. Deonte was really anything from 1-4. Just because there are 5 guys on the floor doesn't mean there must be one each of a typical 1-5. Guys are defined by skillset, not which numbered spot they take up on the floor and all of those guys were played on the perimeter.

It's easy to see. You lose Jackson and Brase and you bring in maybe the best player on the team, another post who started before his time here, and the best class we have ever had and you won't even need a whole lot from them.

I believe he also dropped that Lard and Wigginton might be the only guys from this years team that get major minutes next year.

If you don't want to listen to the whole hour, go to the 24:30 mark, it starts with a question from Chris about how the schedule is shaping up for ISU and what it might do to Lard and Wigginton if they get beat down.

I think he forgot about NWB. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together. If what Jake said is true the team is getting a better talent upgrade than many thought.

Summary...?
Heard it yesterday. One assistant feels that we have the talent to win the conference next year. Coaches are really excited about Shayok AND Jacobsen plus the talent coming in. Jake's personal opinion is that Wigginton and Lard are the only for sure current players that will start next year. According to Jake, the rest, even Young, might have trouble finding minutes.

For those that can listen go to the 24 minute mark.

We lose (3) and pick up (4) Frosh + Shayok & Jacobson and have four starters return. Man, it's gonna be jamed packed roster. Maybe Prohm does go to a 9-10 rotation, at least for the non-conf schedule. That's why I'm thinking we one, or two transfer this spring.

Shayok, Jacobsen, Horton-Tucker, and Griffin, probably plus one or two more surprises, must be bringin' it if they are going to send Weiler-Babb and Young to the bench. NWB is a stat monster, do-everything type and Solomon is the biggest guy on the team, gets better on the boards every night, and has a developing mid- and long-range game going on.

The obvious rotation, based on that, from what we have heard is...

POINTS -- NWB, Wigginton
WINGS -- Shayok, THT, Griffin
POSTS -- Lard, Young, Jacobson

...and those eight look like a swell rotation for next year. Not sure who starts, but I would imagine those are the likely ones to see significant PT.

Agreed. Not a chance in hell NWB isn't a huge part of next year unless he's injured or in the NBA.

Jake and Jess were asked about Nick. Said that he has a very high basketball IQ, Jess thinks he will be a D1 coach someday. But Jake feels that unless Nick can prove that he is willing to take his man to the basket that he "will not be a top 15-20 guard next year".

Joke is on you Jake!
