Speaking of allergies, have some questions for my knowledge.

Can allergies be seasonal or pop up here and there?

Can you be around smoke (or other things) sometimes and then have an issue the next day in the same situation?

My only seasonal allergies are to seasonal weeds and grasses. They also affect my asthma.

All smoke is an asthma trigger for me all the time. It also triggers my kids’ asthma, but they have a worse reaction to tobacco than say a candle or a campfire.

But at least for me I would say no, if the trigger is present so is the allergic reaction.

Question on scentless laundry stuff like Tide Free. I don't use the scented soapy washy stuff, nor dryer sheets that are scented. On the rare occasion I use bleach I have a heck of a time getting the bleach smell out even after extended dryer tumble/dry time. Any pro tips on this?

An extra rinse cycle for bleach maybe?

It's not quite as effective but you can use oxygen bleach (e.g. oxyclean).

I have a confession to make. I like to use dryer sheets with bed sheets. It just makes them smell so fresh.

BTW, not judging anybody on the smoking.....just my thought about how I felt when I ws a smoker, and what I realize about it now.
Started in my late 20s. Unhappy, problematic marriage, co-workers who smoked (IN the office) and I just kind of picked it up. Then because I was smoking instead of eating I lost ~80 lbs...which was nice. That made it VERY hard for me to quit (mentally, and emotionally). PapaLew & I both decided independently about 10 years ago that it was time to quit. Used Chantix. He relapsed once and had to restart the Chantix; I quit with one left in my pouch, and never looked back.
Did I look better as a size 4? Hell yeah. Would I go back? Hell no.

I'll encourage smokers if they ask for help. However, I'm not going to rag on them, because I know the mental and physical addictions involved firsthand.

What I had thought. Wife’s SIL seems to have allergies and asthma that will come and go. She can be in a house with several candles and if busy he totally fine. Then the next day can walk into the same house, see one candle, and go crazy and say she needs to go to the ER. She has an enibulizer in her car where she will go out into driveways “do a treatment” and come back.

I don’t 100% understand allergies, but this is a woman who craves attention and seems to have flare ups randomly. She also has several house cats and that is supposed to be one but she doesn’t have as many issues at home.

This is what I discovered from talking to people about their pets over the last couple of days.

If you're a Vikings fan and you watched the game on Sunday, every single person I know said their pets ran for cover at the end of the game.

2.5 packs a day? That's a bunch.

Yep, chain smoker.

It's funny growing up outside of my parents, practically every single adult I knew smoked. Going up to the neighbors was like going to Dean Martin's house. Everyone had a cigarette and a drink at all times.

It's hard to tell if she's a drama queen or not. Another variable is how medicated someone might be.

Sometimes during ragweed season I am busy and forget my medication and it's a disaster, whereas it may be fairly well under control most of the time.

Kids and I have rescue inhalers. Usually only use them if getting in trouble from a trigger, but I have gotten in the habit of using my inhaler before I go to a football game. Grill smoke is always around plus people seem to think that if they are smoking outside and it is drifting right into your face, it's all good because they are outside.. It definitely makes it so I can tolerate the grill smoke with little trouble, but will have to use it again if I get any breath of tobacco smoke.

She is definite high drama. I think she has panic attacks and claims it's asthma to try to look better. She's had a couple situations where something happens that caused a stressor to happen to her and she claims an asthma attack where everything from my training signals a panic attack.

I still like to line dry clothes. We have a huge clothesline in the basement and I will line dry jeans and t-shirts even in the winter. I feel like the wear and tear on the clothes is less.

I don't think it was unusual for people of around my age and older to have had their mothers smoke and drink while pregnant. When I asked my mom about this, she had a surprisingly honest and weirdly comforting answer. "Yes, I smoked and drank when I was pregnant. First of all, we didn't know it was unhealthy for an unborn baby. However, you probably turned out healthy because I was too sick to smoke and drink during the first trimester when it would really cause problems with your development. It doesn't matter as much during the second trimester when I felt better and I was too uncomfortable again in the third trimester."

My conclusion - God really does work in mysterious ways.
