So am I hearing correctly? Possibly a winter storm the evening of 1-14-18? What is it looking like for Central Iowa? I see the cold weather coming in again. :(

Will I need to fire up my snow blower?

At least here in eastern IA its not supposed to be much, 1-3" is all. Generally Sunday evening into night

Any actual legitimate amount forecast this far out is highly irresponsible and likely raw model output which should be taken with a big grain of salt.

I’m ready to fire something up buts it’s not going to be a snowblower! It’s going to be the TV, my phone to call Chinese delivery and Marijuana! Storm party! LETS GOOOOOOI

I hope you don't play for any teams that I root for that routinely drug test.

Currently, just 1-3 inches predicted and mainly to the northeast. Late Sunday/Sunday night arrival. Bigger story is the cold that comes with it. Cold Monday with wind chills below zero all day and then Tuesday morning will be another -10 possible morning in Central Iowa with windchills possibly touching -40 in Northern Iowa. So, not much snow but a whole lot of cold again. A week from now, a chance at 40s again.

Moisture starved clipper, but it's being squeezed by a strong high right behind it. Don't focus on the amount of snow. It won't be much (though fluffy). Watch the winds on the back side of the snow. I could see bigger issues because of that Sunday night into Monday. Gusts to 35 could easily be achieved in the northern part of the state.

That said, this will be another 'nuisance' type of event.

Quad Cities is thinking 2-4 inches north (highway 20) and one inch south at this time. Just as much if not a bigger story is the wind behind it.

I feel like we used to have a lot higher bar for weather threads around here.

But I guess when it hasn't snowed more than 3" in over 2 years in Des Moines I can understand y'all being a little jumpy.

Then again, maybe I'm just imagining.

Nah, i think you're right.

A few years back when we had snow nearly every day and it never melted off in between, it'd take a good 5-6" storm before we got a thread.
