We went for dinner maybe a week ago or a little more, it was super busy but we had no issues with speed at all. My only complaint was the building seemed cramped, too many tables in not enough space.

like I said, I'm willing to give them a pass because they're still pretty newly opened, but it was pretty terrible service, today. And it didn't help that all of the servers were just hanging around at the bar chatting with each other. I realize it's not their job to cook, and if the kitchen is slow, there's not much they can do about it, but it's not a good look for all of the servers to cluster together chatting while the patrons wait for their food. At least make it look like you're busy.
The manager was very apologetic, and we told her that we'd definitely come back again, but it was not a great first impression.
Been there twice in the last couple of weeks with no issues. Went between Xmas and New Years and everything was smooth. Did see posted on FB once they had mechanical issues (heat) and they did not open until 4 that one afternoon. Wings are better than BWW!
Jack Stack is very meh to me as well. Same with Arthur Bryant's. Both good, but not the best in KC. Gates is awesome. Joes KC is always decent. Q39 is probably my favorite. Some others that I would recommend...

Are you f'n kidding me?!?! Texas style BBQ is the best. Never had anything good in Dallas, but down in Austin are some great places. All about the meat, none of the sauce crap.
Plus this is pretty much my bible. My own bbq is the best.
Will have to try this out. We've been looking for a good fish and chips place since we left Omaha years ago.
Most definitely. Personally I like The Salt Lick (amazing brisket). Not the one in the airport, but the one out on the vineyard.
My oldest daughter loved El Azteca at that age (still loves it but it gets vetoed by the pickier child). Fast and reasonable. Places like the The Cafe, Provisions, Plus 39 may be above what they are looking for in price. You can find menus for all of those online to check out. Wallaby's is nice but again a little spendier. If parking wasn't such an issue they could check out places on Lincoln Way like Jeff's Pizza, Blaze Pizza, Smokin Oak pizza, Potbelly Subs, Fuzzy's Tacos. The one place my picky 10yr old did like was Vesuvius pizza, but rumors are it closed. If they want to try Great Plains it works best to call ahead if you want to avoid a long wait. Great Plains is still a family favorite of ours.
No I'm not f'ing kidding you. It is all about the meat and the meat here is trash. Texas beef is complete crap. And don't get me started on pork ribs down here. Ive had plenty outside of Dallas including Austin and my opinion remains. Its cooked a little better in Austin but the meat quality is still poor. Beef Ribs at the Salt Lick are amazing. Great spot to visit too as you can get an assortment sixer of beer next door.
I can see where you are coming from. Never had pork ribs in Texas so can't comment on that. But I will say brisket which is my go to, is way better in Austin than anywhere I find up here in Iowa. Hell I'd take brisket from Rudy's truckstops over Iowa brisko any day.
Mucky Duck does have good Fish & Chips.

This isn't completely true. Since you're in Dallas head over to Forney to 4T's BBQ. Very very solid. Pecan Lodge in Deep Elum is good, Hard Eight in Coppell is good. And if you get down to Austin both Coopers and Salt Lick are good. These are all a far far sight better than nearly all KC joints.

Speaking of mexican places, an alternative to Teca is Los Altos, which is where Cafe Shi/Oddfellows used to be. It's on par with Teca for food quality, but has a slightly different menu. They've actually got some really good egg dishes, huevos rancheros, mexican omelets, mexican hash, etc. I wouldn't say it's better or worse than Teca, just a little different. Worth a try if you're in the mood for Mexican.
God no, that place sucks.
