How do you grade ISU football season 2017?

I really don't know how anyone could go below A -. The team:
- Got to and won a bowl game
- Beat 2 top 5 teams including 1 road win
- Earned our highest spot ever in the top 25 poll
- Improved win total by 5 games

1 black mark is the loss to Iowa but, That's not even that big of a deal

There's a grade against the curve (what ISU normally does/expects) - and a grade you would give for a typical P5 conference team. They are not the same.

Against the curve it's an A. No question.

As a typical P5 team its a B/B+. Would be a bit lower with 5 loses but the wins over ranked teams and the bowl win, along with not ever getting blown out boost it IMHO.

On a curve to incorporate abnormal ref incompetence: A- for the 9-4 or 10-3 season.

Without the curve a “raise the standard” B-. 7-5 with several fourth quarter leads lost.

Coaching grade in terms of work done since Day 1 in December of 2015 is an A-. A bunch of adversity yet 8 (9) wins in Year 2 is very encouraging.

I predicted 7 or 8 wins, and we should have had 9 or 10 with the way the last couple games played out. I give the team an A considering what expectations were and the teams we actually beat this year. A different swagger for this team now-a-days.

I give A- because we exceeded expectations and overcame adversity, Park leaving the program, key injuries, suspensions etc. The story line is unbelievable. Lanning moving to linebacker and not only being good but great, journeyman 5th yr QB comes in and gives us many great moments, two top 5 wins, a top 20 win in the bowl game. We have an awesome coaching staff who's committed to doing things the right way. If a few calls had gone our way and we'd won 8+ games it'd be a higher grad IMO.

B

I've been vocal for years that I want more conference wins. We got 5 of them. That put us in a long jam in the middle of the conference at 5-4 in B12 play. I like that.

Beating three ranked teams was nice. Two of them being top 5 is outstanding.

Never loosing a game by more than 10 points...... just wow. Someone usually blows us out.

K-State game takes away at least half a grade. That **** is getting old with them. Would really like to beat them before old man time falls over on the sidelines.

The iowa game, meh, I don't worry about that as much as others. I'll ding about half a grade as it stopped us from sweeping the non-conference games. At if we could have pulled that off, would have finished at 9 wins for the year, tieing the best season for us.

I think I would put us at an A if we were in the top 3 in the Big12. Really, just needed one more conference win and we would be right there this year.

A-. In a couple years, we'll be grading 8 win seasons as B's. I'm falling in love with the process!

A+. Absolutey best case scenario capped by a decent bowl win over another ranked team and lots of road wins throughout the season. Those two things are important to me. The biggest building blocks.

Add in great press and attention throughout the season to give recruiting a boost and this was a slam-dunk A+ season.

B through the regular season. Bowl win gives extra credit points which bumps it up to a B+

I went with B+. It's difficult to resist A-minus or better. Reasonable arguments have been made so far for both grading on curve and overall performance that rates highly in itself.
