Coaching Carousel

I truly cannot believe that ASU canned a guy who won 7 games in lieu of a guy who has never been a head coach at the college level and failed miserably as a coach in the NFL. This is going to be even worse than Lovie Smith at Illinois. At least Lovie had been a head coach within the past decade when he was hired, I guess.
I read another article where it said he was open to possibly retaining the OC and DC.

Florida- Dan Mullen
UCLA- Chip Kelly
Tennesee-
Nebraska-
Texas A&M-
Mississippi St- Joe Moorhead
Arkansas-
Ole Miss- Matt Luke
Arizona St- Herm Edwards
Oregon St- Jonathan Smith

I didn't even have Oregon state on my list but they just hired UW Huskies OC and former OSU quarterback Jonathan Smith

Hey look! All the jobs where the fanbase are delusional about their place on the football landscape are the last ones to fill!

Oregon State hired the WA co-oc and former QB as their HC.

I remember leaving Phoenix after the insight.com bowl in 2000 when Oregon State was showing up to play ND in the Fiesta and wishing them well.

Kiffin doesn’t seem to realize that while those things may be funny, they certainly don’t help in his quest at getting back to being a P5 HC. It’s one thing to burn bridges, it’s another to openly mock at those suffering in the wake of the fire.
Maybe Kiffin forgot that he's the one that left Tennessee.

There is some major, major delusion going on over at volnation.com right now. It's unreal. The fans are balking at almost every prospective hire, and can't believe that their AD is shooting so low for coaching candidates. They want him fired for this debacle. Do they not see that the fans, and their reaction to the Schiano announcement, have had a negative impact on the search? What big name coach is going to choose them over other opportunities after seeing the tantrum the fans threw? The hubris over there is enormous.

Any school that hires Kiffin knows what they are getting.

AD's don't care about baggage if you can coach a winning program. See Bobby Petrino.

ASU really bungled up that.

As a side note I was going to put together a resume' for Tennessee last night, but I got to busy watching DVR episodes of The Mick.

Hear-Ye.

When coaches from Duke and Iowa State — football coaches at Duke and ISU — say "meh, not interested," it suggests re-adjustment of expectations. Especially considering Cutcliffe grew up in SEC-land, was a part-time coach at UT at one point, and had a winning record and 4 bowl appearances as HC at a freaking SEC school.

Hell maybe FSU should hire Sumlin after Jimbo bolts to A&M. Have we ever seen a school trade like that?
It would also be awesome if Scott Frost leaves the Bugeaters at the alter and take the FSU job.

One would certainly think they would recognize that. But, based on their message board, the notion hasn't occurred to them yet.

If you need an OC I’ve got an 0-10 lifetime record as a youth football HC. I’ve got to think UT might be getting to the point of at least looking at my coaching resume and my 6 plays that work 30-40 percent of the time.

Serious what would Nebraska do if Frost turns them down? Their fan base would seriously implode.

I'm thinking Frost to Nebraska is done though. Has there been a single leak of a candidate they are looking at? I haven't seen a name floated other than Frost.

Probably hire Bret Bielema. Apparently Oregon (in case Taggart goes to FSU if Jimbo goes to TAMU) asked about Frost and they were told he is "not available."

Big ol' carousel, indeed.

I'll throw my name in there. The Vol fans like tough, old-fashioned football, right? I'm in.
Simple stuff. No complicated playcalls. I'll just stand there and yell "RUN THE BALL!!! BLOCK THAT GUY!!!! RUN HARD!!!"

Pure energy. Full motivation. Can't lose.
Or they can buy me out now and save my voice. It's all good to me.

Judging by these Vol fans, even if they would have gotten Campbell it sounds like they would have even hated him as a hire. Who do they think they will get? Saban? Meyer? Swinney?
