Female Miami Fan gets TKO'd

She’s getting it now with many many people crying foul and calling him an abusive cop.

I'm not absolving her of anything. If they charged her with resisting arrest or assaulting an officer then she got what she deserved. But he screwed up too. As someone charged with keeping the peace, you can't get away with punching someone who's already partially restrained in the face. There need to be consequences for that too.

So if it's a 5'2 110lb man then he also gets special treatment?
Yes. If this cop did the same thing to that man, it would look bad. Let's be clear, no one deserves this treatment, while restrained, regardless of sex or physical makeup. But when you factor those elements in, it makes this situation look much worse.

There really only is one right answer here. We shouldn’t really feel bad for the victim as they deserved what they got but the cop absolutely needs to be held responsible for his actions. Completely inappropriate on his part.
If she got charged with assulting an officer I wouldn't feel bad for her. But getting punched in the head and knocked out, while restrained? That's where my sympathy kicks in.

I don’t find that abusive by the PO.

I wonder if they didn’t bring her to the ground and cuff her as they were in the middle of a crowd.

She looked like a POS and he should get excessive use of force.

I would like to know what led to 4 cops needing to be there, and why it took 4 of them to carry her out, and why they didn't restrain her more with cuffs.

As a male cop, you have to have more cool than that when dealing with an overly drunk female.
Why? If a drunk person is swinging at him, why should it be different if the drunk has boobs?

That said, Chaser is on the right track. Instead of the body hoist out of the crowd, which they probably wouldn't have done to a man, they should have treated her the same way they would a drunk man...cuffed her and marched her out of there with a firm grip on her arms.

If you're a cop, you signed up to deal with drunk, unreasonable people, that's part of your job. Sometimes, drunk , unreasonable people hit you, that's part of your job. If you can't handle that job, don't have that job. This cop clearly can't handle the job.
Well the equation changes when a PO is assaulted regardless of whether the perp is drunk or not.

Did the cop deserve to get hit? She was not restrained, she was being escorted out (in an unusual, perhaps inappropriate manner) and she attacked him

The use of force continuum varies among departments and has gradually changed over the years. Generally though, I believe that most officers are allowed to "one-up" the level of force used against them.

In this case though, with 4 officers vs. 1 drunk, they probably should have been able to handle it. It's always hard to tell what the whole situation was with just a short video clip. Maybe she had already been assaulting the officers prior to being hoisted out of there.

I'm curious as to why they resorted to that. Cuffing her and leading her out doesn't take 4 officers, and the crowd-surf carry can't possibly be the first option. Maybe she was resisting them at first?

No...it doesn't. That suspect should absolutely be charged and found guilty of assault on an officer but there is never a situation where its ok for an officer to hit someone who is no threat to them. Do you believe this man's life was in danger? No, he's just as guilty of assault as she is, the thing is, he has a responsibility to be better than the dirtbags he's dealing with. I support good police 100%, this guy isn't one of those, he should be made an example of, he makes all good cops look bad. Hell LE should be the most upset at this guy.

Some are easily fooled into thinking protectionism is a form of gender equality.

Listen, if you physically assault someone your gender doesn’t matter, it’s assault and it can harm. A consequence very well could be self defense by someone that can harm you back. This is in general understood by humans, except for those that feel protected by double standards.

If that woman wants to be treated with respect, she shouldn't initiate physical aggression with a police officer OR ANYONE. The law against hitting women came during a time before women started punching and hitting men.

Man or woman, if you physically attack someone, be prepared to live with the consequences.
