Some girls showed up at our tailgate with my SIL's nephews. One of them was wearing one of those shirts with the arm holes cut down to her shorts and no bra. At one point one of "the girls" flopped entirely out. She appeared unfazed and tucked it back in but not at all in a hurry.

Hawaii basketball always gets a nationally televised game in the beginning of the season because espn does their 24 straight hours of basketball. I went to it a few years back and have very fond memories of this UH co-ed in the front row wearing something very similar and I got a show every time she cheered. Great night. She eventually got kicked out for showing her tits on love tv too much.

Well hopefully at least not a 17 year old freshman.

Ohhhh, that's a story.
So, last fall, my sections and I were doing our intro stuff on day 1. Part of it included an interesting fact, about yourself, or anything if you wanted that instead.

One girl's interesting fact was that she was 17. As she said that, almost every male student in the room looked down really uncomfortably. Another girl said "me, too!"
They had a nice conversation for a moment, and apparently every guy in the room wanted to be anywhere else.

Schools get some really young ones occasionally who have been grade accelerated multiple times.

Saw a news report of 16 year old UCF freshman from out of country whining a whole lot that she couldn't demand to be able to fly out of Orlando a day before the hurricane. It would be pretty scary for a child though.

17 is the new 42.

Kickball time!

So we got going tonight and I decided to be all take charge as the first veteran to arrive and got all the noobs intro'd to each other and out on the first field to practice. The league guy normally does a "here be the rules" for the first game.
About five minutes later an ump starts grouching that we have to get off the field because if we warm-up, other teams get to warm up and the games will never start on time.

For reference, we were using my ball and were there at 6:15 for a 6:30 game. Friend is like next time we'll play out in the grass and good luck trying to kick us out!

Also, no rules going over so we were at the wrong field and everyone had to walk far the other direction. Nice job, CG.

We get started, first guy got on. Then I kick. I got on! They threw the ball at me and they missed! I got on first! DH was right there like nice job, you're safe*. A guy kicked and it went really far, I got all the way to third and friend coach held me there.

Then a friend kicked, but it looked perilous so I hadn't started going. Friend - WHILE RUNNING TO FIRST - starts yelling "RUN CG!" By that point base coach friend was like OK go so I ran and scored! I got the first run of the game! We joked that runner friend would have been safe if she'd focused on running and not yelling at me.

Then some other stuff happened, I helped get an out at first, then was definitely probably responsible for 2 of the 3 runs other team scored in an inning to pull ahead 5-2. Whoops. A dropped catch and sort of drop at 2nd. Well, on the latter I just didn't the person out, the person running home wasn't my fault. Oh, but I didn't throw it to first or something. IDK. We have a new husband-wife team and they were really good. Think they got on every time they kicked. She had really good ground balls and he had low bomb kicks.

So I kick two more times and foul out, sad times. But others do better and we are tied 5-5 at the end. Dh kicks. Gets on first. Next person kicks. Ground ball. They throw and tag the runner out. But DH gets to 2nd. Next person kicks (my coworker). Same thing - but even though they tagged coworker, the ball got away a bit so DH ran for home.

He scored. We won! He performed well under pressure :D

*I definitely, 100% felt the ball graze my right hand. But DH didn't see it and they called me safe so I went with it. But I feel I must confess.

Yeah. I've had several HS students from Ames and Gilbert in classes, but this was a bit of a different dynamic (besides the apparent disappointment of the guys).
The HS students are always too sheepish to speak in discussions, even though they clearly have great thoughts, they just don't do it. These two 17 year olds often drove their classes discussions along.

The one who started the whole thing with her factoid took another class with me in the spring. She left a really nice note about my work on the evaluations, and "signed" it with her initials. That was a nice wrap to a year, especially after I made her cry in a lecture,

Not going to be as good of an update as CGs from my football game but here is the quick and dirty. We were much improved this week and as long as our QB gets his head out of his ass we should be fine the rest of the way. Only lost by two but should have won. There was only one ref and he was lazy and didn't want to be there. He called us short because he thought the flags were pulled even though they weren't, was not very accurate on ball placement and never stopped the clock in the second half when he was supposed to.

When oldest son was an undergrad, they had a 15 year old girl in their dorm. Fortunately for her, she wasn't the only under 18 freshman they had living there.

This is my favorite time of the week.

Also 1. I love that CG has her own kickball. And 2. Like, half of the story was scrupulous detail about her first at bat, then she's like "then other stuff happened."

All's fair in love and kickball, CG. Good update. On the edge of my seat for the result. Like you including both your good and bad.

I definitely was yelling at DH for fouling on bouncy kicks and a newer friend is like "ah the marital bliss" and I joked that I'm mean to DH and 3 other friends way too quickly were like "yeah she is"

they kid though. They said DH gives just as good.
