Random Thoughts X (The 9th Regeneration)

School district has sent out a huge bevy of e-mails about buses tomorrow.
Just checked my spam filter, and they were apparently rerouted a couple hours ago to there. Glad that I checked, even though none of this applies to us right now.

The number of E-mails from our school is ridiculous once they get rolling. Luckily, they have an app which I can access grades, E-mails, lunch menus, account balances, etc.

Otherwise their E-mails are white noise to me.

On a related "white noise" note, I drive my wife crazy because I rarely pay attention to signs while driving to places I'm familiar with. My typical response to her "What did that sign say?" question is, "What sign?"

I don't know and in interest of being ridiculed I am learning to not push too much.
Good idea. I think the rule is that you can only beat your head against the brick wall so many times before it hurts. At least that's what I've found about similar situations.

Sirius/XM gave me a 2 month free subscription. I'm surprised how repetitive it is.

Make sure you read all the fine print and don't have to cancel a month before their free trial is over to avoid being charged or something stupid like that. I feel like they are particularly shady in that department.

I liked having Sirius for their comedy channels and some of their other music channels, but I bet I only cared about maybe 5% of their programming if I was lucky. One of their alternative stations was pretty good about playing a lot of B-side-ish material as opposed to what you get on normal radio.

Had new variation on Murphy's Propane Grill Law last night. Not the usual run of gas half way into grilling (I have spare tank). All set to grill and put in new tank and leaks like crazy. Plastic connector knobby thing cracked. Off to Home Depot for a new gas regulator/hose thing. I assume it cracked from old age, it's not like it was some sort of old man feat of strength from over tightening, although my dad taught me at a young age how to over tighten things by breaking **** and stripping threads like crazy.

played the top team in our league last night. We lost 2-1 and blew a lead in the 2nd which was poopy. First set I rotated out and we were up like 5-3 and I didn't get back in until they were at 13 . I was so antsy to get in and serve............served into the net. Bad words.

Had one more bad serve on the night but went on a couple nice runs of like 3 and 4 serves that included two aces. Served out the third set that we won, too. DH stepped on my foot at one point and skinned my toe..........then it got sand ground in it for the next 20 minutes. That stings!

We decided that team belonged in the upper league as this was only the second set they've lost and they very consistently did three hits. No one else (including us) does that. Looking at their set scores, we were their closest game. We want to try passing more and you know, being like real volleyball not just play hot potato with the ball. So we'll see. One more game before playoffs.

Now that was a quality sports update! Fine job CG! Good luck on the final game and playoffs.

We enjoyed having XM when driving between Wichita and well anywhere else. Beats having to find a station or something to listen to. Driving from Spencer back to Wichita once I listened to two full MLB games. Also was nice to hear the Cyclone broadcast on gamedays.

They don't have any credit card info.

A much younger and foolish NWICY worked a full night shift and a 5 hr split shift am (21/2 right after grave yard and then another 21/2 at about 3:30) job for a while. I could fall asleep anywhere if I wasn't doing something. Stoplights were tough. Once coming off a 16 hr night I woke up at a stop sign, didn't remember driving there:eek:. Luckily I survived those yrs and never hurt anyone else or myself.

You just THINK they don't...
I have never purchased Sirius/XM. When I bought my last vehicle it came with a 6 month trial. They are just trying to entice people that had a trial before to try again in hopes that someone will sign up after the second chance.

The interwebs know everything...EVERY THING...
Muahahahahahaha!

Random thread, random thought.
Anyone interested in a CF relay team for the DSM Marathon?

Info sheet here:

Basically 5 miles apiece, so nothing too crazy. Anyone? Anyone?

Ghost of Runner Past is all "oooh!" but I think I am too old and slow for this. If you are setting up a Sloth Team CF just for fun and not concerned about being embarrassingly slow I could maybe do one of the four mile legs. I would be really slow at 9 minute miles. 30 years ago I would have given you 6:30's or so.

Even slow would be assuming I don't blowup. Only four runs into a late summer test of running. Did order some rigid inserts...hopefully will keep knees and hips quiet.
