Last week the coaches sent out a different pitcher in for my daughter for the last two innings of a JV game. Seen this girl a year or so ago and she was so erratic that one batter may see one in the dirt, one over the backstop and one in each dugout during their at bat. This time she keeps catching the inside corner and kneecapping the hitters at blazing speed. Most of the crowd silently looks at each other with the, here's our varsity pitcher look. This last week the coaches decide to see her at the varsity level. She gets declared academically ineligible that morning.
Pretty sure I've never heard of a small town Iowa girl's softball player being declared academically ineligible. Of course, I don't follow it super closely, but I'd think that it's a bit of a rarity.

Not exactly sure.

We usually have 1-2 a year. Baseball gains a few players every year that are borderline. Want to burn up the 6 weeks of sitting (2 weeks if Flunked just a quarter) instead of missing football. We are considered a football school first.

I was thinking the same thing

Ugh. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but that is a pretty sad testament to high school athletics.

Been watching weather along the Relay route the past few days.
Forecast gets just a touch hotter each day, and it looks like the heat follows us from Sioux City to Dubuque, as the forecast seems to be hottest in our time at a given city.
Think of it as "building character"?

I know you're probably in fantastic shape but a little humility would be appreciated.

Really enjoyed Mt Vernon though. I am one to try different things and it bit me at Mt Vernon when I tried peanut soup. That was essientially warmed up chunky peanut butter. Disgusting.

That sounds like a dish that made up out of necessity and lack of other ingredients. I envision a poor family sitting around starving with absolutely no food except peanuts and some water. I am pretty adventurous when it comes to food, but that does not sound appealing at all.

Peanut sauces in general are something I struggle with. I keep trying them, thinking that I'll eventually acquire a taste for them, but I'm usually left thinking "That wasn't bad, but there are so many other things I like better." Curry is the same way. I know lots of people love it, so I keep trying it and hoping to find that right recipe.

I was the kid who would try anything and eat anything. One time my Mom found a recipe for peanut soup and made it and even her stalwart "I'll eat anything!" kid wouldn't eat it. I tried one spoonful and declared that I couldn't stomach it trying to not hurt her feelings. She agreed with all of us and threw it out. To this day it is the only food that I won't even try if it comes down the pike.

As far as peanut sauces, Mrs. Velo makes chicken skewers that are marinated in a peanut sauce and there is extra for dipping when served. I've found that when I bring them as leftovers in my lunch I end up dipping pretty much everything in my lunch in the peanut sauce.

Wife was supposed to arrive yesterday at 5:55pm. I left the house at 5:00pm, since it takes about 50 minutes to get to the airport. Found out that the flight was delayed upon arriving at the airport, so waited on the top level of the parking ramp until 6:40. My oldest was bored out of his mind. My youngest was having a great time watching the planes take off. Every time a plane would come down the runway ready for takeoff, he would call out to my oldest:

Baby GTO: Menja! Menja! Menja! (has trouble saying "Benja)
Benjamin: What?
Baby GTO: Airplane!
Benjamin: Okay.
Baby GTO: (upon plane taking off) Niiice. Nice airplane.

This went on over and over for 40 minutes. Then I found out that my wife got re-routed to Tulsa and doesn't know when they'll head to Dallas again. I decide to head back home since the kids are getting tired and hungry. Drive almost 40 minutes to home and my wife texts me that they are leaving in 10 minutes and flight to Dallas from Tulsa is only 39 minutes.

Turn around and drive back to the airport. Finally ended up getting home around 9:30pm and had to then catch up on some work from being out. Dragging ass today.

My food I refuse to eat is liver. Can't do it. Also can't eat pig's feet, gizzards, or any other weird animal organs.

I'm at a quandary. Do I like the cute Baby GTO story, dislike the delays and driving in Dallas traffic or give Goat a good friendly to pick his tired ass up?

don't know if I mentioned that the day we left, I stopped to grab granola bars and Dramamine after work and out of nowhere it like, super hailed. Like, I was afraid to run to my car and get it under cover cause it was so big. Called Dh saying make damn sure your car is inside before this gets further east and was sure my car would be dented to hell. Got it home and quickly looked before driving off and didn't think we saw anything. Forgot about it til today. Going to work today and DH followed me out of the house and then stopped to look at the car hood. Yep, bunch of little dents. Then he thought maybe it happened while the car sat in Chicago but I was like I bet it was that Monday we left.

Get to work and coworker is like were you around for the hailstorm? Hmmmm what day was that???? Turns out people at work had windshields broken and $4-$6k in damage. Everyone still in the parking lot had damage of some kind. Texted DH saying yeah, I think it was that day we left! He doesn't want to bother taking it in but I wasn't sure if we should.

also, hope no one noticed that I posted this in the Cave for a couple minutes, haha

Before he retired our Executive Chef used to make liver and onions for lunch about once a month. He just made it for his lunch but really doesn't like cooking for one so would make enough for the L&O connoisseurs here. Of course I like a little liver. Keeps me from getting anemic.

My step dad once made pig brains in scrambled eggs. I tried it but it wasn't great. The brains were kind of bitter. I would eat it again if made in something that complimented it by someone who knew what they were doing.

Check that, I would probably have to do some research to make sure I wouldn't get chronic wasting disease or mad cow disease before eating it again.

If it is truly just a bunch of little dents you could explore a paintless fix. They use dry ice, I believe to make the dents (as long as they aren't creased) pop out. A lot cheaper than a big fix and new paint job.
