Welp, I remember when we were recruiting Sean O'Mara (6'10 F/C) out of HS and he ended up choosing Xavier over ISU. averaging 6 points as a Junior. Guess, we shoulda got him too, him being 6'10 and all
Just over 2. solid stat line, right there. How many fouls is he averaging though?
I'm sorry but Carter's body is just awkward. He has poor strength in his long limbs and his core strength has a ways to go before he can actually utilize his full range of motion the way we want him to. I think Ernst was a better keep defensively. Carter has shown little promise on either end to this point.
Ernst hasn't showed promise on either end to this point either
Are we sure we would've had David Johnson? The only reason I ask is because David said that Paul Rhoads didn't even call him by the right name when he sent letters. It's ISU's Clinton curse. We had David Johnson signed up to play football but weren't gonna give him a shot at RB so he goes to a different school.
Ernst is going to become the basketball version. We'll probably see him in the NBA in 3 years time.
Clinton, Iowa: home of the ones that got away (from ISU)

Well picture this, Morris, Babb, Burton, Young, Ernst. We slash the lane and the bigs crash the glass for easy put backs. We also gain 5 fouls and what would be the largest body on the team. All we need in that specific rotation is effort from the bigs, and decent footwork. Both things are easy to coach.
http://247sports.com/Player/DeAndre-Johnson-15733Rhoads had D'Andre Johnson in the bag but screwed it all up.
I don't think he'd be playing here this year
No way of knowing, considering Holden a bust, Carter not seen the floor and suspended. Ernst might have got a shot for some early games minutes, but doesn't mean he would have outperformed Young or in practice tho, I guess. We'll never know now, so I agree its not worth rehashing.

I find this quote interesting. He is averaging roughly 12 points, 8 boards and 1.5 blocks at IHCC. IF we had just gotten a verbal from a player doing this at IHCC not named Ernst, we would all be stoked. I am certainly not saying he would be putting up those numbers at ISU, but our past history with players putting up similar numbers at IHCC has been very positive. McKay and Hogue had similar or lesser numbers at IHCC than that. Maybe Ernst's numbers will not transition to D1 well, but he certainly has shown promise at both ends with those numbers.Ernst hasn't showed promise on either end to this point either
You can still like Prohm, cuz I do, & want him to succeed here, but still wish Ernst would have stayed. Chicago after Sweet 16, talking to people at team hotel, they thought Ernst had a chance to 'develop' here, not so much for Carter. But that's already been hashed/rehashed. Perhaps no guarantee 'at the time' w/Lard & Malou coming to play, of his playing time. Couldn't it have been mutual between Brady & CSP? And Brady is the one who wanted to go to Juco to get to play immediately?
I thought the same thing about McKay and Hogue. Was Prohm trying to recruit Ernst back to ISU? If not, I sure hope he has someone just as good or better in mind because we will be keeping our eye on how Ernst does at Xavier.I find this quote interesting.
