Have you watched our post game the past few years? It's reasonable to say we don't appropriately value the contributions an athletic, but still developing, big guy brings.

??????????????

What? Possibly the best best forward in ISU history just graduated. A couple years before that, Ejim, a top 10 (probably top 5) post graduated.

No one ever described Georges as an athletic developing big guy. Ejim was a smaller forward that was skilled his past two years.

I guess I don't understand your point. As for Georges, I don't care what anybody described him as; he had some of the quickest low post moves I've ever seen at Iowa State.

I'm not an expert recruiter and don't act like I am but didn't he have a knee injury or something that made alot of programs pretty much just loose all the attention they had for him in HS?

I don't know either, but if so, that could certainly be one of the reasons for his lack of recruitment.

Way up there
I don't get the Ernst love, the guy wasn't a big 12 player, just because Carter isn't, doesn't mean we need to mid major big guys. Both were late additions with unusual recruiting circumstances. Ernst was a poor mans, I'm talking sub Saharan Africa poor, Jared Homan. That's all people see him in, they took the CW article from the first few weeks of practice last year and ran with it.

This is why ISU basketball fan is becoming Hok football fan. Maybe this year will get the dumb ones back off the bandwagon.

Did Ernst get pushed out? Or did he just not play enough and left because he wanted to play more somewhere else? I recognize that they are often related, but I thought it was more of the latter.

I thought CW said something akin to "the staff decided to keep either Carter or Ernst, and kept Carter, figuring he had more potential."

Obviously, nobody is high on Carter right now.

Thank goodness for Solomon Young. Thanks for being a Cyclone. Let's hope that Cameron Lard shows up and shows equal promise next year.

Truth is -- nobody knows on Ernst. He is an easy "what if" to point to... white boy (so you get to call him all those positive things like "scrappy, high motor, gamer, sneaky athletic" code words), a native Iowan, flew under the radar, coming off an injury, tall, invites some comparison to similar "rags to riches" ISU stories in the past like Jared Homan in the post... but we simply do not know right now. He wasn't highly recruited, which only adds to it.

We'll know in a year or two if he makes it out of JUCO and where he goes. If he ends up being a post contributor for somebody at a high-major level, I guess we messed up. Wouldn't surprise me to see him at SDSU with TJ either, for that matter.

Or he might not go anywhere or play at a much lower level. After that, then we'll know. I do not know the circumstances of him leaving but, if the relationship is still good, heck, maybe he can still come back to Ames. Please don't go to Iowa City or Lawrence, Mr. Ernst.

That might break CF.

Until then, this is just another way to make a legend out of a molehill (one under construction) as another way to criticize the current staff. There are plenty of things more relevant to our current situation to criticize than Brady Ernst, looking about.

I find it hard to believe that Ernst would be leading IHCC in points and rebounds (heard that anyway), and not be able to help us this year.

Why? There are probably bigs all across JUCO that are producing similar numbers. It doesn't mean they can play on a Big 12 team.

The staff knows his abilities, if they thought he would be a contributor he'd still be here

Would Carter be playing at all at IHCC?

Our post game is extremely weak and the staff missed on which Big had the better potential. Misses happen, but we're starting to see an inability by the staff to even have a mid-major level post game.
