My Ledges story.

After the flood of '93, my roommates and I went to Ledges to access the damage (i.e. do stupid stuff). We were wading through some waste-deep water when a 5 foot snake came swimming along the surface. I was in front of our trio and the snake swam behind me, turned towards my friend and then disappeared underwater.

I can only assume that the snake was not fond of urine, because my friend turned white as a sheet and made a scooby-doo looking exit, but lived.

I don't think I would be wading through waste water no matter how shallow or deep.

Reminds me of the flood of 08. Waded through waist to chest high water to get into Mercy hospital to help sandbag and save that portion. It was mostly successful but I have often thought back to how lucky we are that we didn't catch anything or fall into something.

I'm not sure what to make of all the positivity on these boards after a football win. There isn't even anybody melting down about neither of the basketball recruits not committing.

Also, I find it interesting that when I typed in positivity in this post that the CF spell check machine doesn't recognize the word. I've googled it several times and I'm pretty sure I'm spelling it correctly.

CW really needs to change the name of the site to Cyclone Bipolar.

Starting the week with the stupidity meter pegged...

Had an appointment for the SO's new Mazda CX-5 - first service today. Basically it's an oil change. Driving to IC this AM where it was purchased for the 10:30 appointment. Left Clarence, noticed I forgot my watch (I keep it on top of the fridge). Got to Tipton and thought, "We must have left the keys in the vehicle because I didn't get them (off the top of the fridge where they are kept - notice the trend??)". It's a vicinity key where you just have to have it in the vehicle. No problem, obviously the vehicle is running.

Got to outskirts of IC. Realized NEITHER of us had wallet/billfold/money/cards! They are kept ON TOP OF THE FRIDGE, of course.

Pulled over and called the dealership. Can we still come in (after having driven 30 miles)? And just have you bill us? (Hold, hold, hold). Nope, sorry, make another appointment.

Almost out of gas, too.

GRRRRRRrrrrrrr. If I'd have realized I/we forget everything we normally bring from on top of the fridge when I first noticed I forgot my watch there would have been plenty of time to turn around then and still made it okay to the appointment.

Filled up after getting home. 15 miles left in the fuel tank.

So, heading to IC again tomorrow for a service appointment at the Mazda dealership.

@GTO Sorry about all the ear issues and HFM. We went through that once with just one--not a fun experience. :(

Okay, need some positive vibes/mojo. I entered a monthly giveaway at our dentist office. I got a call today to see if I was going to be able to make it to the patient appreciation BBQ tomorrow between 6:30-7 when they are doing the drawing. Oldest has a lesson at 7pm, need 10min to get to the lesson, so said I wouldn't be able to make it. Got a second call from the dentist's wife (who is a neighbor and a friend of mine) who said they pre-drew 3 names to make sure the winner was there and my name is one of the 3. If I can't make it they will take my name out and find someone who can be there. $1K cash is at stake, I think I will find a way to make it!

Sympathetic multichild multitasking vibes coming your way!

Side note: if you win, you make us cupcakes! ;)

I could probably handle that. :) Forgot to mention hubby is in Denver all this week so I am flying solo. I may have made a desperate call to Grandpa. Retired people have nothing better to do, right? And I think it may be awhile for north central Iowa to dry out and work on harvest so he should not be busy. Because we all know farmers never really retire (he helps my BIL).

I think it should be illegal for radio stations to play "Livin' on a Prayer" during working hours. That song should only be heard while driving down a highway where you can bellow "WHOOOOOAAAA-OOHHH, LIVIN' ON A PRAYER" at the top of your lungs, or when you're home alone cleaning the house and using wooden spoons for microphones.

Disclaimer: I have never ever ever done either of those things...
