Not quite sure what the stereotype is, but I have an idea. But she was an incredible girlfriend and is still a really good friend.

And you add in the pastor's daughter stereotype. You're in trouble

My oldest just got chosen as his class' homecoming attendant, the girl picked is a FES that just arrived a week ago. His biggest concern was trying to figure out what to talk to her about to pass the time since they have to hang out together throughout the week. She's from SE Asia.
I went to some dance in high school with a foreign exchange student from Germany. I think I mostly talked to her about The Scorpions.

Yes. I forgot he even existed

I figured he was dead. I thought he was old when I watched it.

Rolled over this morning and got an armful of wife. While this might make most guys happy, what it told me was its raining outside. She walks with a friend every morning.

Think I might buy a sump pump just in case. Assuming they will be sold out soon and just in case another goes I will have one.

Wife told me late last night that we are stopping by her relatives for a get together after the HS game tonight. She didn't like the, are you crazy, look. The game is two hours away and we will be getting up at 7 for the ISU game the next day. Will get home around 1-2 am, get everything put away (was then also informed that the daughter has two friends going to the HS game with us, meaning I will need to shuttle them home in the morning). My wife sleeps whenever she's in a vehicle so she doesn't think this is an issue, but the driver does.

Oddest thing about this FES is that she is a sophomore. The ones that were in my HS were always seniors who were between HS and the first year of college. Never heard of one this age.

I changed schools my senior year and people my senior year called me a FES from my old town.

Usually MS volleyball practice is at 6:30am on Friday. This week our homecoming game against Boone is the Ch 5 game of the week so they were doing live shots with Game Day Blitz starting at 6am. Kids were supposed to be there at 5:45. After getting no sleep due to the storms last night, 5am was fun this morning.

In the almost 9 years we have lived here, our sump pump has never run. Where does the water go?! Next door neighbors and 2 houses down have issues when it rains. Maybe all our water goes to their yard.. . .

CG, Chaser or Woo. Do you know anyone that works at Epic? SIL's bf works in IT at a local hospital and is at a conference up there. He did a snap chat virtual tour of it. At least now I know why my medical bills are so high.

yeah, know a couple. DH interviewed there as well. They tend to turn and burn college grads.

Seems like they know what you're taking about because I don't.

weird that like in 08, many of the same parts of WI are getting pretty heavily flooded right now - and same places in IA are getting hit. I supposes cause all those storms from NE IA came across and hit WI.

I lived in a house with no sump pump once. Was on top of a hill with solid slopes around it. Have you ever had dampness in your basement?

Not really, just the typical basement stuff. We used to run the dehumidifier in the summer but haven't done that in awhile. Just seems odd that on a relatively flat street neighbors 2 houses down have had their basement flood and the next door neighbors have had to install a second pump to keep up when it is like this.

Poured basements don't have the entry points of block basements, that can make a difference. Some construction guys can do a little "creative" work with the house tile and what not to help avoid issues.
We had a house that I couldnt find the sump at first because it was under the basement shower stal, kept it covered and quiet. The piping was hidden by the stall and came out under our deck.

As a retired Corps of Engineers guy I admit to missing some of the "action" that would be happening today and through this weekend at work, particularity as it related to some of the flood control projects I had been the design team manager for.

Also kinda glad that old house in my hometown sits on a nice sand base so I don't have to worry about that basement flooding. Maybe the best drained soil in the country.
My house on old potato fields in Brooklyn Park may give it a run for its money. We have a sump in the basement that still has a little construction trash in it. It has clearly never been wet since the house was built in the mid '90's. I curse the inch of top soil over sand most of the time but when it gets really wet I realize that all that sand can be a blessing.

When I moved in there was no pump in the sump. Since it has clearly never been wet, I have never bothered to install one. It has a block foundation/basement by the way.

When we lived in Lakeville our sump ran 24/7/365. It was illegally routed through our basement sink in the winter, and the rest of the time.there was a steady stream of water down the street from our sump. That soil was mainly clay.

We don't have a pump. Our house is a tri-level - both sides are built on slabs, but it's a hillside. There is a large gully that runs across the front of the house (between the house & the lane) that keeps the downhill flow off of us, and we have occasionally had a river between the house and the garagemahal that flows directly from the lane down to the creek at the bottom of the hill. Knock wood, we have only had a water issue once - when my old washing machine gave up the ghost & overflowed into the laundry room. :)

Live in a old house unfinished basement, it'll probably get wet today. I'll sweep some then the dehumidifier will get the rest.
