I didn't understand any of that, but you're happy so I'm happy for you! :D

So.. a little better explanation. HyVee deal where a group of 8-12 people get together and prepare meals that they can freeze. You choose ahead of time what 7-10 recipes you want. They prep the ingredients. Group usually divides up 1 person per meal. They make the # of people in the group for that meal. Say 10. Each person takes home one bag from each table.
Un-opened stuff gets taken off of the bill. Opened stuff left over gets split up. Bill is then divided per person.

So this time 10 people paid $62.15 for their 7 freezer meals.

Meal - feeding one person, or you & Erik with a little for Z?

That sounds pretty interesting, it would at least bring some variety to my meal choices.

So our school stinks at softball (from HS on down, MS wasn't horrible but not competitive level of play) but we do have a pretty decent volleyball pipeline. Our HS almost went to state last year and only lost one senior. Our 8th grade team has a group of 6 who all play club level ball at various levels. They are fun to watch. Supposedly mine is only playing on the A team because another girl is injured, we will see if coach switches it up once she comes back. I'm just a tad biased, but I seriously think the only thing this other girl had going for her was height. Mine is only 5'1" playing next to girls who are 5'7"-5'10", but she can hold her own in the front row.

Ooooowwwwweeeeeee!!! How long do you have to wear it? Left or right leg??? Right is worse, cause it makes it hard to drive...

Weeellll...as long as I need it. (i.e. - Didn't see the doctor, and no insurance...soooo...) It's my left knee, which is my "bad" knee. But, both of my knees are bad, so that isn't saying a lot. It was never swollen, so there's that.

Mama bear! ;)

...anyone else find it odd when Springsteen's 'Born in the U.S.A.' gets played at places like sporting events?

It's not viewed as, or last I knew, meant to be, patriotic.

It's definitely viewed as patriotic, although it was never meant to be, and if anyone were to listen to the lyrics outside of the chorus it would be clear as day to see.

Ahhhh...that's a problem...
After my knee surgery the doc didn't want me to wear a brace - he felt that it inhibited healing by keeping the knee stiff. Have you looked online for any knee rehab exercises that you could try; maybe help get your knee back to normal?

It's weird to hear of something like that in that area. It's pretty suburban. Gun-related crime in KC has been crazy this year. There's a shooting almost daily anymore.

I couldn't help but wonder what the objective of the two assailants could be. If they wanted to mug/car-jack her, just threatening her and her infant with a gun would've surely done the trick. Striking her in the back of the head just seemed like a way to draw attention to themselves and was overkill given the situation.

Adding to their lack of intelligence, why would you try to accost someone at a Walmart of all places?! Outside of a gun show, you're probably at one of the worst places if you're trying to avoid encountering a person carrying a weapon.
Working in a courthouse, you come to realize that most criminals are really stupid. I know that seems logical but they're generally even dumber than you imagine.

It is definitely one of his preachy songs. Another song that is comparable is "Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young. I enjoy Rockin' in the Free World but don't really want to spend much time thinking about the lyrics.

Almost all of the options are supposed to feed at least 4. I have had two so far that were only enough for the three of us once.
Now I understand your excitement - feeding a family of 3 or 4 for less than $10 is pretty dang good.
Reminds me of the days when I had two babies and a husband in grad school, and all of our friends were in much the same situation. We would drive over to central Washington for a truckload of fruit from the orchards, or down to Walla Walla for veggies from the big farms there. We'd haul them back to Pullman and the families would get together at the church and have "canning parties". Plenty of safe space for the babies to play within our sight, and many hands making quick work of peeling, slicing, packing & sealing. Every now & again we'd get some berries and make jams & jellies.
We bought live hens (past their laying prime) from a local egg operation, and would process them for the freezer (tough old birds, but they were great when slow cooked in a crock pot). We had all kinds of ways to reduce our costs on meals...and were able to have fun doing it. :)

Mrs. Velo had already planned for us to take the kiddos to Como. Wristbands were already purchased.

Was too slow for my tastes so likely way to slow for you anyway. Only had four people and co-host and I had to bike pretty slow because the couple that showed weren't quick bikers but we did take them on a nice scenic 20 mile ride. Took the Minnehaha trail back to avoid the wind which was gusting to 30...they appreciated that.

We should still try and maybe do a RTT fall color ride.

Brave guys wearing the colors after that football game. (We did see a couple Hawks but they were nice about the massacre on Saturday).
