heck, I cook like that now. Anytime I try something new, I usually combine like 4 recipes together. But then I don't write down what I actually went with so if I want to make it again....it's all guesstimation.
All the best cooks do! ;)

You're something of an exception to the rule at times - I've discovered that my sons are better cooks than my DIL's (three of whom can't cook a meal if it doesn't come out of a box with instructions).

It seems most of the time that if the mom cooked, then the kids can cook.
When my parents married they made the choice that mom would stay home with the kids. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen while growing up so we all picked up the basics on how to cook from an early age.

I just realized I made salad to bring for lunch and forgot salad dressing. Now I have to make a run to Hy Vee

That's actually the only way I'll eat a salad. I don't like the different dressings

I don't mind them but I am just lazy and it is extra calories. I don't eat salad because it is awesome I eat it because it is healthy and everything added takes away from that.

I can see a girl walking outside wearing a very short very tight skirt, with big hair and carrying a sparkly bag. Are the chances that she's going to work at the dancing establishment across the street 100% or 110%?

I think I may be friends on Facebook with CNE from the cave and not even know it. Somehow I just got dragged into a Clinton argument on something I posted that has nothing to do whatsoever with Clinton.

So the zipper on my pants broke this morning and I'm trying to decide if I should wear the spare pair of pants I have in the office that don't match perfectly or go untucked all day (I do wear a tie). #pants(nottheguyknownaspants)problems

Since nobody else has mentioned the "spare pair of pants at the office" thing, should I assume that I'm the only one that doesn't do this?

That's a good point but I do have a fairly reasonable explanation. We have a fitness center in our building. Rather than bringing new clothes everyday, I tend to bring several outfits at once to change into after working out.

I wasn't a stay at home mom, but I did teach my boys the basics. They can read a recipe and all are pretty good at grilling. One in particular has a talent for cooking and makes a lot of their meals from scratch (he's the single dad).

I'm a little disappointed. I was getting ready for a good "second family" story or a "I make more wardrobe changes during the day than Elton John" anecdote.

At the very least, I was hoping for a "one time I showed up to work without pants and vowed to never let that happen again"

Drives my wife nuts that I will willingly just eat salad without dressing or anything.

I was the youngest of 8 kids. It was always quicker for me to eat salad without dressing than wait for it to possibly make it around to me.

I'll cut up a cabbage and eat chunks of it as a snack too.

I used to show up for work without pants all the time but they've been increasing security lately and showing up without pants makes me look suspicious these days.

Happy birthday, Boxster!

I just saw a recipe that involved spaghetti squash, ground chicken, diced tomatoes, onions, garlic...you bake the squash and serve the mixture in the squash. The problem is that it involves mushrooms, which neither of us like. Pondering if zucchini would make a good substitute.
