Three people have legitimately wanted to know where I got my Hawaiian shirt at. I could possibly be a king here.

Too late, names taken.

The county fair sucks now. My sister and I have lifetime passes. They're basically a credit card, just with a bar code on it. This year they started scanning them as you enter. In past years, my sister and I wold walk in, go to a different gate, get stamped and exit, then give the passes to our parents so they could it in free. Now you have to get an entry and exit scan. Mom was telling me that a friend of her's who has a lifetime pass left for a bit, came back and almost didn't get back in. They said that her pass wasn't showing an exit scan. She had to show her ID to prove it was her pass.

They've also hired a 'fair manager'. This suit and tie guy is making $80,000 to basically do nothing and yet the fair is trying to make a profit for the first time in 6 years. He has no idea how a fair works.

There's a new rule now that you can't bring any food or drink, including water into the animal barns, not even the people with the animals. There's people at the entrances to the barns checking. What *********. Most exhibitors live in the barns for the week. They bring fridges and coolers. The fair spent money building a whole new barn just for the exhibitors to go eat. Again, fair is trying to make a profit.

Also they're charging to sit in the grandstand for all events. That includes the rodeo that was Wednesday, truck and tractor pulls yesterday and last night. Monster trucks are tonight, Scotty McCreery on Saturday, Skillet (who?) on Sunday and the usual demo derby Monday. They never charge for anything. They have a couple times in the past for track seating for some concerts, but the grandstand has always, always been free. Then to top this all off, the put up tarps to block people from viewing the events for free. People always gather on the sides of the grandstand to watch. They put a stop to that.

It's just boring now. They never have any big names anymore. Usually they have 4 concerts. Last year was 3 now it's down to 2. None of the implement dealers bring their stuff anymore because of vandalism. Long time vendors are gone. Food prices are too high.

It's just not what it used to be. The only reason I go now is to get a cinnamon roll.

Nice rant. Whar Joie Chitwood?

Maybe only MeanDean will get this.

He is missing the biggest profit center of them all. Beer tent.

Seems like he is going about it slightly wrong. You mostly just named the Jones County fair except it is awesome. (and run by a great Cyclone). They have four nights of concerts that have one night of old school rock or something and then two nights of top country acts with a top Christian band on Sunday. Concert tickets are about as cheap as you can imagine around $40 from when I have gone plus $10 to get in the door. Where they make all the money is on beer.

Another ridiculous thing baby GTO enjoys doing. He took all my video game controllers out of the center console of the entertainment centers and has managed to get all their cables tangled up. It is his favorite thing to play with and he somehow knows how to add more of them and incorporate them into the growing tangled mess . So if you ever visit, don't be surprised to see a whole bunch of video game controllers on the floor all together in a huge mess, I'll upload a picture, let me see if I can find it.

They had a beer tent one year, not sure why it was never brought back.
