Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

So, my sister started college today, and 1 brother is a freshman in high school while the other is an 8th grader. Not really sure how I feel about this.

Crazy crazy day. The weekend went well. Birthday meals that spouse choose went well. I ordered a balloon for Z's birthday today.

Work was full of training and trying to get one project done. I called one vendor and felt bad for them. The person that submitted the invoices had left/retired and the new hires know nothing about what is needed to properly get their invoices paid. I think I spent 10 minutes on the phone explaining the system and what they would need to do, AFTER they called support to get log in information.

Z choose her first toy. She named it, Somebunny. Build a Bear can be fun. Then today she's been carrying her new crayons everywhere

My girls have all loved doing Build a Bear. Except the first time the now 5yr old did it (she was about 2.5) she freaked out and my MIL and I were like, "Just stuff it and be done--no wishes, no grooming, no clothes". That is almost impossible to do in that place.

Yeah, I think Z wasn't sure what to think with all of that. She does love watching the machine though.

Waiting for daughter at a volleyball camp. There is an AAU basketball camp going on in building attached. Watching kids get picked up and dropped off. Can tell I'm old because I can tell the first time parents (besides looking 25) by how they drop off and pick up.

Reminds me...when we used the SEP park n' ride for the fair, we walked past signage that said "Parent Drop-Off". I remarked "This is where you drop-off your parents...it doesn't say 'Student Drop-Off'." Am I wrong in questioning that verbage?

Wind is just right, can hear everything going on at the steel forge tonight, including the PA system. It's about a half mile away. You can always hear when they drop steel, but tonight is louder than usual.

Anybody who started working there when it first opened in the late 60s early 70s retired after 30 years with millions. Now most of the work is part time with mandatory overtime so they don't have to provide benefits, or something like that. Plus it's an oven in there. Would not work there. I like it warm, but it would be too much. All the higher-ups wear plaid clothing too.
