Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

So, Mrs. GTO misplaces EVERYTHING. I was going to clip my toenails two days ago but the smaller toenail clipper was missing from the case. I asked her where she put it and she said she found it today and put it back in the case. I went to use it, but now the big one is missing (which was there yesterday). She does not know where it is.

I wanted to punch a wall, I was so mad (I was probably a little mean to her, but this stuff happens ALL the time). I'm the kind of person that always puts everything where it belongs and know exactly where everything is in the house. She'll actually lose things all the time, but I'll tell her right away where she can find what she lost. I think I have a photographic memory when it comes to noticing things laying around the house.

Most times I'm not terribly bothered by stuff like this, but every few months there is one particular incident that just pisses me off for no particular reason. It's just like she doesn't care where she puts things. How can someone live like that?

That scenario would totally happen at our house. Usually I have a ton of things running through my head while picking up/doing things around the house and might start something/do something before I finish what I was doing. My kids know it, I know it, hubby knows it. The other day I took out a pair of earrings I was wearing and didn't put them away. They were sitting on the ottoman. Then I remember picking them up again to put them away, but got distracted by another task. I remember setting them down thinking, "I should really put these away, I will never remember setting these here." And yup, now I have no clue where they are.

Goodthing you got that sugar daddy to buy you new ones. ;)

We are kind of a mix of those. She does 10 things at once but it takeseems 10 times long we because she doesn't finish anything. I put stuff down and think I will remember where it is but rarely do. Oh I also have an issue with putting one off expenses in our budget but not labeling them so by the end of the week I have no idea what it was.

Likely right next to MeanDean's remote. Just sayin'.

Yeah. I almost never get mad either, but seems like something rather meaningless sets me off every couple of years. Always the same things:

1. Inability to find something.
2. My mom and/or brother pushing my buttons.

Wait til your kids are older. They will lose more stuff than you can imagine.

My wife is a clean freak, she thinks there is a better way quite often, so she will move her locations for stuff periodically, well mostly my stuff. I've gotten phone calls from people asking me about the bill I owe, turns out wife made a new location for some of my bills and during harvest would "file" these before I even saw them. Couple that with not the best memory and it makes a lot of extra work for me.

Took trouble sleeping to the next level last night. Did not actually fall asleep at all. Not even a single minute of sleep last night. Going to be bad day. Staying with friends up north and supposed to bike after it quits raining.

I keep a pair of nail clippers in my car. I have a thing where when my nails get a certain length I HAVE to cut them very soon or I will just flick them endlessly on each other until I drive myself crazy.

I will take them out and trim while waiting somewhere on road construction or while the SO darts into a business for something. Yup, went to use them the other day - not in the car anymore. Now I know where the suddenly "extra" set came from laying on the kitchen counter.

I went to Culver's last night, I took the two lane out of town to Beloit. About a mile out of town, I look in my mirror and there is no one behind me. A couple seconds later, there is a car coming up fast. They had to be going 80+, which is highly dangerous on this road. I was doing 60. They passed me and the girl in the passenger seat waved as they went by. Had no idea who they were.

Further down the road, I could see someone leaning out the driver's window. Not sure if it was the guy driving or the girl. They were still going 80.

At the end of the road are 3 roundabouts. They must have just been going around and around them for a while, because by the time I caught up, they were still in one of them.

Then getting on 43, some ****** had all the room in the world and would not get over to let me on.

Maybe she thought you were cute?

lattice topped peach pie in the oven. I hope it turns out as delicious as it looks. The filling is sooooo good. I let it sit to get some of the juices out, then boiled that down to a syrup and poured back on top with some cinnamon, flour and other stuff. We've got some of it leftover and I mentioned putting it on ice cream. DH said he'll make that sacrifice for me.

First time making a pie crust so hopefully it's not too tough.

Godspeed!

Did it. It was kind of nerve racking though. Technically it's not illegal to dump ashes in the ocean, but you have to get a permit and be three miles out to do so in Hawaii. I was about three feet out. Plus, the wind was blowing in, so I had the very real fear of all of the ashes blowing back into my face.

Sounds great. Getting back in the groove for the Texas state fair by making a blueberry pie tonight as well. If you're interested in some science behind a pie crust and making a more consistent one, J Kenji Lopez Alt has a great article about it: http://sweets.seriouseats.com/2011/07/the-food-lab-the-science-of-pie-how-to-make-pie-crust-easy-recipe.html

Using his technique with my grandma's recipe stepped up my pie game a lot

He's also one of my favorite online chefs. His cookbook is pretty awesome as well: http://amzn.to/2bm55A9

realized I forgot to add the butter to the peaches that it said to do. Whoops. There are two sticks in the crust soooooo......well, I ended up dotting a bit on top when it was still hot so hopefully that works. The filling tasted good before baking so it's probably just accidentally healthier!

I'll definitely read that, I like the sciencey part of it.

I suppose eating it with ice cream will replace the fat from the butter. :D

I am concerned about it ending up runny. Has flour and cornstarch but still looks a bit juicy from the top. Has to sit for another hour yet though.

I'm glad you didn't pull a Walter.
