Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

I've always had this small trash can in the bathroom, with one of those lids that swings (not the foot pedal lift ones) and now Lulu has learned to get into it. So......time to get a new trash can.

Wake up to news of passing's of Pat Summit and Buddy Ryan.

I saw a couple of days ago that Pat Summit's family said her health was failing quickly, but what surprised me was that I didn't realize how young she was. I know 64 seems old to a lot of you, but when you consider that my father is still around at 92 (and his father lived to 95), old is relative. :)

Pat Summit did a lot for women's basketball and made more than a few enemies along the way. Overall, though, her contributions to the sport were huge.

Cute puppy photo from Sunday morning. She has a knack for finding the water (or other dogs slobber) & then rolling in the dirt.

Milo likes to knock stuff off my desk if I'm not paying attention to him, and things used to land in the trashcan next to the desk. I'm pretty sure I've thrown away a few things I shouldn't have. I had to switch over to the foot-pedal type. Now things just roll under the desk when he knocks them off.

I can relate to this story. My grandfather died at 75 and it just seemed like his health took a sharp decline (Alzheimers) the moment he retired from work. I always wonder if retirement and not keeping your brain active brings a more faster onset of Alzheimers. I'm never retiring.

Did not know that fire flies don't fire on the west coast.

Pants, does a 12 string have 2 necks or a very wide one.

I need sleep.

Not sure if serious. A 12 string has strings in pairs on the guitar so when you play it you get the two strings sounding together. Generally when you see a two necked guitar it is a combination of a 6 string (one neck) and a 12 string (the other neck) You can tell if it is a 12 string by looking at the tuning pegs. If there are 12 of them you are looking at a 12 string.

If you listen to stairway to heaven, Jimmy Page starts the simpler portion of the song on the six string of his double neck guitar and as the sound gets broader he is playing the 12 string.

And no, I don't play the guitar so if I got something wrong someone will have to correct me.

Of course this doesn't even touch on acoustic vs. electric.

She starting coaching at Tenn at age 22. Here is her ESPY video if you have the time I would recommend it. I was there in Des Moines for what turned out to be her last game as a coach.

Thanks Rulzzz - I'll watch it later.

Thanks velo, I know nothing about guitars, thought they were basically all 6 strings.

GTO, there are many studies that say that Alzheimer's is sped by not keeping your mind active. Said it's like your body and not staying active. Said that doing crossword puzzles or playing chess type games will help keep you nimble.

I was out yesterday afternoon and missed most of the GTO hostage situation. If I had been around I would have gladly shilled out any amount to get GTO back but, unfortunately, I was car shopping as my old vehicle was officially starting to fall apart.

Mail them to JC & Pants. Seems to me they're the ones that complain about being follically challenged...
I'll take them. In fact, I'll pay the ransom I was going to offer to get them. What? That is not creepy.

Not Pants. He just needs a hair transplant from his arms to his head.
This might work better for me too.

Now that we got two kittens to go with our cat and have officially become the crazy cat family Mrs. JCyclonee has decided that she probably better get this shirt.

My "not sure if serious" comment wasn't a jab at you. I just wasn't sure if your comment was part of an inside joke I had missed. I didn't know about twelve string guitars for years until a musician friend of mine schooled me and even taught me a few riffs on his six string. I still don't play the guitar but it was fun to get exposed to a little bit of it.

By the way, some double necked guitars can be a combination of a six string and a bass, some are electric acoustic hybrids and some even two six strings. If you can imagine it, someone will build it for you for a price.

I'm holding out for the banjo/mandolin doubleneck. :jimlad:

Okay, just one more multi-necked oddity. This one is a 42 stringer but still not the most strings on a guitar type instrument.

You can even find a guitar/harp hybrid out there.
