*** Official 2015-16 NBA Playoff Thread ***

Ummm... yes. People tend to love players on "their" team and dislike players on other teams. Cocky players and players that like to talk a lot are easier to hate, what's wrong with that? Of course its hypocritical. Not any different than wanting your team to win just because its "your" team even though they don't really deserve to win any more than the "other" team.
Wait, so being a fan is being hypocritical?

You love your team for winning, you hate the opponent for winning. And that's ok, just like its ok to hate one player for celebrating but love another player for doing the same thing because he's on your team.
Ok so who is your team? I don't have a favorite NBA team I'm just a casual fan. Rulzzz (the person I was asking the original question to) is a Bulls fan so I don't understand why he'd rather see LeBron win who he's adamantly hated the last few years.

I'd understand the rest of your points more about hating the Warriors if you were a fan of the Blazers but I don't get hating the Warriors for being cocky when a large majority of the NBA is cocky. Cause they can actually back it up?

He hates the Warriors because they beat the 72-10 record of the Bulls

I think he's still not happy that they broke the Bulls' record.

Not getting in some philosophical debate on this but I don't really hate other teams, if you do that's cool, I just like my team because they are my team.

He already said he doesn't hate Curry, just agrees that Curry is cocky, but there is nothing wrong with that.

Draymond on the Blazers: "Do I think they're done. Of course I think they're done"

Interesting. He's probably right, but still. Why give the Blazers any extra motivation? They'll already be in desperation mode in an elimination game.

Lillard didn't shoot very well last night but I love how he carries himself. Portland has been probably the most overachieving team in the league this year after all the key players they lost in the offseason. I'll be pulling for them on Wednesday just because I'm usually a sucker for the underdog in any contest where one of "my teams" isn't playing. Nothing against the Dubs, it's just that nobody roots for Goliath.

Sounds like something Georges would say about the Hawks and people here would eat it up.

It's funny that we love it when our players have some swag (Georges blowing a kiss, Naz holding up his arms after a made 3, etc) but when someone like Cam Newton does his dance or Curry does whatever it is you think is cocky people jump all over them and don't like them.

I hate cockiness in general (not just in athletes). If they're humble and just do their thing I'll cheer for them and feel for them when they fail. If they're a cocky sob, I'll never cheer for them and, while not happy that they fail, I will find it hard to show any empathy.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some emotion from the players, just not the douchery of proclaiming to the Blazers crowd "I'm back!" or the statement from Draymond after the game. Celebrating a made shot, yelling in excitement, celebrating with your teammates, etc. are things that I'm totally fine with.

The Georges Niang situation with the Hawks is different. There was clearly some animosity with their fanbase over some twitter incidents and I couldn't say that Georges was particularly disrespectful or cocky to other teams outside of the Hawks, so I'm cool with that.

You hated Royce White correct?

When he played against an NBA 8-deep Kentucky team in the NCAA? Is that what you're referring to?

Yes if you didn't like Steph yelling that he's back, you must've hated when Royce was yelling that he was the best player on the court full of top NBA talent.

Stephen Curry was just name the first ever unanimous MVP.

After last nights most points ever in OT performance as a precursor.

Unbelievable year for him and for us to witness.

Can't argue with it. Easily the most important player on the best team.

I'm a little surprised that until now nobody had ever won it with a unanimous vote. Lebron must have come close during his first go-round with the Cavs when the second best player on a sixty win team was Mo flippin' Williams.
