Wife and I were sitting here in our apartment watching tv just now and heard a huge whooshing type noise that lasted for quite a while (a minute or two maybe?). Anyone else in town hear that and have an idea of what it was? Our neighbors were outside talking and made it sound like they might have seen something, but we have no view from our windows and couldn't see anything. Just curious.

I was wondering if it was something like that that was a fairly routine thing. My wife thought it was an airplane or something like that, but it seemed like it started and ended way too abruptly. I am somewhat surprised though to have not heard it before though in our 3+ years of living in town. At least I can take comfort in knowing that my neighbors were equally confused.
Definitely aliens. Hope you have a bunch of half full glasses of water laying around and you're battling a cold. Otherwise, U ded.
Does it make a difference if it is people making a fuss about the loud noise?

Plenty used to that. Live close enough to the tracks that basically everything sitting on a table/surface shakes when one goes by. I actually thought train at first until I realized nothing was shaking.
