wxman, I would get lower back soreness when I was first running after long breaks. I found that doing this stretch helped quite a bit. But I usually kept the bottom leg straight.

I may need MrsWx to demonstrate it before I attempt such a daring feat.

Potty training success...Lulu peed outside this morning rather than waiting for a puppy pad.

Are you giving her a treat immediately after she does it in the correct spot? That seems to speed up the learning curve. I give our puppy a treat and praise literally right after he's done squatting.

First baseball game last night. Soon-to-be 13 year old was 2 for 3 and advanced the runner from 2nd to 3rd in his other at bat. Several members of a neighboring community's AA team joined our team this year so the team is way better than last year.

Stop me if you've read this one before:

First U11 soccer game of the season last night. The girls played well - all of them, even the ones that really struggled in the fall. They won 4-1 despite losing one of their best forwards with a pulled quad in the first half. It is so encouraging to see girls who weren't getting it physically or mentally really start to put it together so early in the season. They are becoming an asset rather than a liability.

They are all alone leading the league! Of course our game was the only one played so far this season.

We'll see how they do playing up to U12 at the tournament this weekend.

Instead of doing my normal workout stuff I decided to try and run for the first thing in nearly two years. Short run of only 3/4 mile but it felt good. I do need to get better at stretching and potentially get shoe inserts. I usually give up when my lower back starts hurting so we will see how long I last.

Good idea. One caution I learned the hard way about inserts last year is that they can create too much tightness for your foot if you do long distances and experience the swollen feet that can go along with that.
I learned it through blisters and ripped-off toenails. It didn't really hinder anything, just looked weird waiting for Christmas to see toenails again (or whenever it was).

Buy shoes that are bigger

I forgot to take the treats out on attempt #2 this morning, she got a ton of praise. She's had puppy play dates the last two nights and has gotten treats immediately after going outside. She's starting to get it, I think.

Good point. I will try the better stretching first and then move on to the insert.

Anyone that is interested the Wichita NWS finally got around to tweeting stuff about the Andover, Kansas tornado 25th anniversary. Look back at yesterday's tweets.

One of the scarriest ones is that on the way into town the tornado hit McConell AFB narrowly missing a line of 10 B-1 bombers...two of which were loaded with nuclear warheads.

I have perhaps told this story before, but a co-worker once ran a half marathon. He was telling me about his preparations, and mentioned putting his vaseline on, with a gesture toward his backside. I stopped him and asked what he meant. He explained that he had to put vaseline in his ***crack to prevent chafing. I explained to him that that's just a rule I have...any activity that requires me to put vaseline in my ***crack...I'm out...I'm just out. Noper all over that one.

I've seen the starts of some of the races get a little crowded, but never that bad.

Or this. I've never had the toe nail problem though, luckily.

I have. Lost both from the big toes during a weeklong hiking trip in borrowed boots (dumbdumbdumb). That was back in highschool, but I remember it hurt like a sumbeach when they were about half-grown and someone would bump or step on one of my feet. One of the "senior quotes" in my year book is "DON'T TOUCH MY TOES!!!". :)
