Jake Hummel commits

OK, Debbie Downer. ISU football fans have had so much to celebrate the last few years! Enjoy the ranking while it lasts as hopefully a taste of what's to come: prolonged success.

Dear lord, I'm not being a downer. Did you read what I typed after that? I'm as stoked about FB since the OSU win but I don't fall for math tricks.

Pretty pumped about the LBs for the next 4 years. Really solid pieces added.

The best part about all of these guys committing early is they can be more selective with the rest of the class.

Yeah, the high ranking is a function of the high number of commits we have compared to a lot of other schools.

But don't get me wrong, it is great to see where we are headed and we are still pulling in what seems like a ton of great recruits.

Welcome, Jake!

Why compare to Rhoads? That's over. Besides, comparing a first year recruiting job to a year when pretty much everybody and their brother knew the staff was heading out the door seems like it might be expected to have vastly different result.

I really love the way this staff targets the guys they want and work at it to get the commit. I bet it is hard to say no to them when they put the full court press on.
because he was the last coach here?

Exactly...I loved Walden but people would incessantly bag on him, he was/is a really nice guy! Paul deserves the criticism, he gets no pass. The facilities we have should do 70% of the work for a staff...Walden had an empty shoebox and a University President who couldn't see what value a good football program adds to a University's overall optics. Now if they'd just get with it and start selling beer to the general admission people it would be great! #AstormisBREWING ;-)

This kid will fit great next to O'Rien Vance. Really like the look of both of these linebackers.

I can see Hummel making an impact on special teams as a redshirt freshman and starting LB as a sophomore. Much like K & K.

Paul Rhoads helped build a lot of those facilities with his success in the first 3-4 years. He still has one of the best if not THE best 4 year run on school history. I would hope fans would be somewhat greatful for that.

I do not follow recruiting and get a bit annoyed with some of the recruiting obsessions - as so much of it is a crap shoot.

BUT.

Holy hell. This can't be ignored. The work the staff is doing - nothing short of amazing. Hope it translates to the football field.

The guy has no other high major offers. I'm not gonna question this staff tho.
