I can't imagine having the personality that thinks it's okay to ask someone else (not family) to help fund your wedding. I don't even know that I'd feel okay asking my parents to help pay for it. Can't afford something extravagant? Go to the courthouse.

Just had a convo about something like this with a buddy the other day. I recently saw someone trying to raise money so they can get their pilot's license (technically certificate but that is a post for another day) via GoFundMe. I agree flying is expensive but I am going to go fly myself before I give you money. It doesn't get any cheaper, if you can't afford to learn you can't afford to keep flying.

One of my favorite segments of the Dave Ramsey show was some lady coming on and immediately railing off her GoFundMe because she was poor before they could stop her. He went ballistic on her and it was awesome.
