Ok you who people, what century did he meet riversong? Also what is her real name? I recognized her from ER after the fact.

Ok, the preferred nomenclature is Whovians.

Her real name is below in spoiler tags, because if you haven't watched the show and want to, it's a BIG spoiler of a storyline that spans several seasons:

Her name is Melody Pond, ya know, Song River...
She's Amy Pond and Rory's daughter.

Now the "when" they met is kind of confusing with the whole time travel arc. They actually meet in reverse order of each others timelines. The first time she "meets the Doctor" is the last time he sees her. The first time in his timeline that he meets her is the last time she sees him.

The first time the Doctor meets her is in Silence in the Library, Season 4 Episode 9. Very good episode. It takes place in the 51st century

I've never seen an episode, yet my curiosity compels me to open a spoiler. I'm now convinced that I could watch the show and not remember anything that I just read in your spoiler. Hooray crappy memory!

Yep. There's a LOT that goes on in just one season of Doctor Who. I knew her real name, and I remember the episode the Doctor first met her in, but I had to look up the date.

Doctor Who jumps all over the place. There are a few BIG story lines that continue over a whole season or multiple seasons, but many episode's are just one off episodes.

Interesting factoid. The current actor who is playing The Doctor, Peter Capaldi, was in a previous episode as a Roman in the episode The Fires of Pompeii, which also had a bit part in it played by future companion Karen Gillan as a random soothsayer.

All in all it's a really good show and I would suggest watching it if you get the chance.

My good friend SaraV got me hooked on that show after her Doctor Who themed mafia game.

It's really sad that they took Doctor Who off Netflix. I'll never get my wife hooked on it now.

I used to watch the old school 70s/80s ones as a kid on late Saturday nights. Those things had to have been acid influenced.

Yeah I meant real name as in real life. Clue was about British actress in doctor who that got her start in a some kids show in 1980.

Judi dench was all we could do.

It's hard, because I'm already a Netflix guy. I don't know if I can switch or not.

You don't have to switch, we have Hulu and Prime. Really, depending on how much you order from Amazon, you can maybe even justify prime without the streaming. We finally realized we ended up adding $5-10 to a lot of orders in order to get free shipping...thru the year, it made it seem like a lot less expensive than the $100 yearly fee. Their streaming music is also a decent replacement for Pandora ONE if you subscribe to that. Although, I was not a hardcore user of Pandora, so I can't speak to the library comparisons.
