My current feeling is because Prohm sucks as a coach....

Transfer game is over for us. If you are transferring in, you look at the Cooke situation and why would you? You gotta figure out a way to get 10 minutes out of him, Prohm failed to do that.

This isn't like Hoiberg teams dropping a few games. This team has no one in control, and they are not getting better at all, in fact they are getting worse. Hoiberg knew what the problems were and was able to fix them, this guy, same thing every night.

I don't know what Cooke you watch, but the one I watch can hit the 3, pass, handle the ball in pressure, and his defense is very underrated. He struggled to start the year, but he is better at all of those things than what anyone else on ISU's bench has to offer. I say give him at least 10-15 minutes a game, giving morris and matt thomas breathers in both halves, not just the first.

What did Cooke provide before he was benched? He was shooting in the 20%'s from 3 to start the year.

Cooke was 48% (11/23) on threes the first 9 games of the season. Got in a slump and was 8% (1/13) over the next 7 games. Got suspended, and has been 75% (3/4) since. 37% on the season.

There may be a reason Ashton is playing more than Cooke, one that is not readily apparent from game play. But it is not that Cooke can't shoot.

Guard play is not the weakness of this team. I'd Cooke was marginally better than Ashton, it doesn't stop Baylor posts from scoring and rebounding. Fred lost to teams with lots of size too, it was a consistent weakness of his.

Re: Hallice Cooke

I think the dog house issues were always exaggerated. There might have been some issues, but ultimately it's just that Prohm doesn't have confidence in him

CW has hinted on more than one occasion that the team has more confidence in Ashton, and I do believe its been mentioned that Ashton plays tougher defense. The other night (can't remember which game) I was glad to see Cooke spell Monte for about 4 minutes. But he did get 2 or 3 fouls in a matter of no time. Again, these hip surgeries are apparently no cure alls. See Knott, Albrecht, etc. Don't think we'll see the 'same' Naz ever again either.

Still have hope for the kid, but disagree with the underrated defense part. He's usually hustling and trying to get up into an opponent, yes, but gets whistled for fouls almost immediately.

That's my feeling, because he gives effort when he is out there, did a decent job spelling Monte against UT and is a better offensive threat than Jordan (and we desperately need an 8th player to keep our starters fresh).

This is the Cooke I have seen recently as well. We don't need him to be a superstar out there but if he can spell Morris/Thomas this will certainly help the fatigue factor late in the half or late in the game.

Why? I'm not sure why hes entitled to 10 minutes a game.

Not saying its wrong that others do, but I guess I just refuse to blame the coaches as to why Hallice isn't playing. There must be something they see in practice that we don't get to see that makes them feel we'd be at a disadvantage. And like I said, when I've seen him really get after it on defense, he either gets beat to the rim or fouls immediately. I think CW knows more than we do on the matter as he's mentioned the word 'trust' on podcasts before. Yet, on the other hand, I was glad he got the 4 minutes vs. Texas and gave Monte rest. Noticed his tweet late last night..."just want to help my team smh " . Why can't things just work out? Ugh.

Shoulder surgeries like Darnell Williams of SJU are not great either. Looks like hips need couple years to rehabilitate despite what the docs say. To get back the bball ability takes longer than normal..

You have to earn your playing time, and obviously he has not done that. He is often tweeting or instagraming pics of himself and McKay and using cryptic language. These two have both been suspended, and under performed. They may have a little pity party going on.
