Shane Burnham lands at Rutgers

Good for Shane. However, I'm sure he was hoping to get something in the southeast so that his kids could be near Grandpa Wally. Their extended family had some unusually special time together here in Ames.

Hired as D Line coach. I'm a little surprised he didn't land a D Coordinator job. I'm assuming that would have had to be at a lower level, so maybe staying in the Power 5 is a better move for him.

I hope they can turn around Rutgers. I never understood why they are so bad. They invented football! They should be like the Kansas of football. All they got to show for it is the very first national championship, pretty bad when you invent the sport and suck at it.

Because it's Rutgers. Academics are high. Not exactly a place years ago that top recruits could get into.

Rutgers fans told me before the Pinstripe Bowl that the R on their helmet stands for "Art." Or "Right" (with an L on the other side). Or "Ruffies." They were hilarious!

Off the top of my head I'd guess Stanford, Michigan, Florida, Ohio State, Texas, Florida State all probably have better academic profiles than Rutgers and no problem being successful (albeit with a few down years here and there at each on the field).

Rutgers does have higher average admit stats than Iowa State, fwiw.

And good for Shane. Good guy, coach, and recruiter. Kinda surprised he didn't go closer to FL where the rest of his family is nearby, but he'll be a DC in a few years and at least being on the same coast & time zone will be easier on family travel.

I live about 10 minutes from Rutgers, definitely bright kids and profs there but yeah, as a whole that statement is laughable to me too. There is a ton of trash at Rutgers and New Brunswick in general.

A lot of reasons Rutgers isn't good but academic standards are not one. Mostly, their entire athletic department has been completely mismanaged for a decade.

Good for Shane. One of the guys that I was hoping Campbell would keep because of his fire, but I understand wanting to have guys you can trust when you take your first P5 job.

Rutgers = State University of New Jersey at New Brunswick

State of New Jersey = Great Food + Lots to see and do - Terrible Traffic - Worse People

"Why travel and experience the world when you can experience every corner of the world in North Jersey"

The 6 year old in me just always wants to do that.

People in New Jersey don't care about Rutgers why should anybody else?

Yes because Rutgers doesn't have 13 programs ranked in the top 25 in the country...their graduate programs don't have 16 ranked in the top 25 nationally either right?

Wondering what living in NYC has to do with Rutgers academics...
