****Official Class of 2016 Recruiting Thread****

Why is everyone so obsessed with a mid-season transfer? Is there a requirement we have to take one that I'm missing?

Because Prohm has referenced a goal of taking a mid-year multiple times, and so has TJ. Plus we have two currently on our roster.

Sounds like either:

1. Ashton is on a one year scholie or
2. They've decided they're ok not getting a mid season transfer by recruiting Lard still.

He would be the missing piece to our recruiting class. I have felt our ideal class would be recruiting a starting five and Lard gives us the 2nd post player. That would allow the staff the ability to use the final scholarship on a JUCO or transfer post.

Because every team in america would like to pick up legit talent in the middle of the season. Are you too stupid to understand?

Apparently too stupid to wonder why we'd not recruit potential talent now just to hold a scholarship for a transfer that may or may not become available and then may or may not pick us.

I don't think you can sign on campus or in the presence of ISU officials, regardless (official or not).
I just looked it up. I was wrong about not being able to sign on an official You just can't sign with a coach present off campus but on campus, on an official or unofficial you can sign with a coach present.

If true I'm surprised Halstead, Hines, or Chris hasn't mentioned anything about this.

It was in the recent TJ interview, although he didn't mention Ashton specifically, just that we have one remaining.

I believe that a fan asked Ashton after the game and he reported that he was currently on scholarship. I can't remember which site that was on.

Lard has nothing to do with mid year transfer. That has to do with 2015. Lard won't use a 2015 scholly.

This seems like something they were waiting for but wasn't quite on the high chance of happening list. Taking another prep wasn't out of the picture but it was looking as if transfer was more likely so that's what they said that as the other high interest bigs were already out of the picture. Also this is 2016 class recruit instead of this season.

I asked him directly after the CO game if we had extended a scholarship for him this year when he was taking a picture with my son....

Interesting. I can't imagine our staff giving him a scholarship for one season and taking it away for his senior season. That just doesn't happen I don't think.

I suppose I could see it happening if they sat down and had a conversation with him about it before offering. But I agree, it does seem like it would be unusual.

I have no idea....I could see them Explaining that they had an extra one to extend this year and needs him for depth ( and with Naz and Cooke coming off injuries), but could not guarantee one for next year...as a walk on, I think you take what you can get.....but this is all conjecture as I certainly did not ask him if he would have one next year too...
