If you don't mind me asking, why Volleyball? Did he play, did his sister or your mom play? Don't get me wrong, I think it's great he does, but that's not a typical sport you would donate to.

He donates to both the Iowa State Foundation and to the athletic department. Not sure why he donates "extra" to be designated to volleyball--they have only had season tickets for a few years now (he has had wrestling season tickets for 30 years, football for 20, WBB for 15 or so, MBB for 5 years). I think he is trying to be the Sukup of the volleyball program. (My parents are personal friends with the Sukups). He always goes to the Cyclone Tailgate tour, has talked with CJL on numerous occasions. Last year he told her if there was anything the program needed money for, let him know.

I was the only one to really play volleyball and I was mediocre at best (still on JV my junior year). I like playing, I am just not that great at playing.

Definitely enough that, if he had ever lived near enough, he could have had pretty good seats to pretty much anything. He hasn't lived close to College Station since we left Fort Worth in 1960.

I think it is more my mom's perception of how much she feels he gives.

He never did have a son, but I don't think so. And the granddaughters are all just a tad too young for ya.

Just a guess, but maybe the interest in volleyball is because his daughter and granddaughters have such an interest in volleyball?

When I donate I do it through ISU foundation but have only ever seen two choices under athletics (1) facilities or (2) Cyclone Club. Always just picked Cyclone Club. I would love to pick something more specific like volleyball (even if I am a mini donor in comparison to Big Daddy Cybirdy). Did just check and there is a "I don't see what I am looking for, and I will add my specific gift designation in the Notes and Instructions box." Going to use that at the end of the year. I would rather give to volleyball or WBB than general fund.

BTW, I always get personal contact stuff back from Reiman Gardens and Design College and form letters from the athletic department even though the athletic department gets more from me than the gardens or college.
