Monte invited to Pan-Am Games tryouts

He could declare even if he doesn't end up getting chosen in the 1st round. There will be people...agents...in his ear telling him he is ready. And he wants to go. Just hope he has enough people around him to dissuade him if he truly isn't ready.

That's exactly why I hate the NBA. Oh and because the players run the league.

He seems like a bright kid with a level head. Prohm has enough credibility on this issue that I'm sure they will make the right decision.

Maybe they were looking for a player who could totally change the momentum of a game. With the game footage you referenced they would see he can clearly do that.

Worst part about the NBA imo. Coming from a guy who enjoys watching NBA. I hate seeing gms make great strategic personel moves just to get effed by a player with different ideas and the power to make them happen. I hope they get rid of the FA moratorium. As far as Monte goes, barring some marked improvement in his strength I'd wager he's back next year.

I don't think the NBA is as 1v1 as you think.... a lot of matchup difficulties and obviously star players that can demand 1v1 matchups.

Look at GS. Obviously Steph Curry a 1v1 matchup nightmare... but their passing and team ball was incredible to watch. I think Cleveland was a pretty good 'team' up until the finals where their team sucked and LeBron was forced to go 1v1.

That's a big misconception about the NBA in my opinion. I used to think it was too much 1v1 & iso but once I started watching NBA more the past few years I've definitely changed my mind about that.

I've been watching Fred VV since the 8th grade. His game and Monte's are VERY similar. I would expect that it pretty much came to a coin toss; and Fred's college experience (final 4) came out ahead. It would have been awesome for Monte to make the team and get more experience, but it will not affect him at all, IMO. Monte will be Monte, and he will be even better this fall.....

I don't get why he's there when he's like 30. I was under the impression that the roster would be all college guys because of Kansas representing the US in the university games. Maybe I'm just bitter because of no Monte but it seems kind of dumb to me.
 
After Fran mentioned that FIBA is a much rougher game, it makes a little more sense on a few of the older guys.

I stand by my initial assessment on Brown though.
