The ESPY's

...
Heck your post shows why what she did is so important. I didn't know you could throw so many "he's" in a few sentences.

Sorry that I have not kept up with this, but has he already had the sex change surgery?

I didn't watch the ESPY's because Bruce jenner was going to be on. I don't get comparing Aurther Ash and Jimmy V to Bruce Jenner. I don't care if he turned himself into a girl, good for him if he is happy - but I just thought it didn't need to be celebrated the way it was. He was an attention ***** when he was on his reality show, he just wants to be in the spot light like his worthless kids.

How about Ronda Rousey winning female athlete of the year over Serena Williams and her 3 straight majors, 4 going back to last year? Talk about a popularity contest.

Props to Disney/ABC/Espn for the Jenner story. Not an easy/popular choice given the audience, but hopefully it will help change some minds and lead to acceptance of those that face this reality every day. Great speech with an even better message. There will always be people who are going to be scared/made uncomfortable and react negatively, especially when they have limited exposure (a sad fact of being a rural iowan). Bringing this issue to the forefront of this audience will help a lot of younger transgenders in my opinion.

Nobody cares about Tennis, especially women's tennis.

Plus the fact that she's getting it done at an age (33) where most players have either faded or retired. Regardless of the popularity of women's tennis, what she's doing is remarkable.

The Arthur Ashe recipients list now includes Jim Valvano, Muhammed Ali, Pat Tillman, Nelson Mandela and Bruce ******* Jenner. It's ridiculous.

If Bruce wants to declare himself a woman, that's fine, it's his life, but that does not make him a hero.

Yep, the circus is in town -- sponsored by ESPN. What a sickening display. SICKENING!!!

The award is not supposed to be about being a hero. It's called the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. While she may not be the most deserving recipient, I can only imagine how much life must suck if everything you appear to be is not anywhere close to how you feel. Going through all of this being a public figure must only make it more difficult, but it certainly will help others in similar situations feel they can be happy. That sounds courageous to me.

The best part about TV is what you can do when you don't like what's on.

Don't get me wrong... it takes courage to do this. But there are a lot more athletes who deserved a courage award. Btw - in the terms of athletics what has Caitlyn Jenner done? I personally don't an issue with it but this wasn't the place. Also, why are people/media so accepting of this? When a woman gets a ton of plastic surgery done she is criticized for being shallow or not being comfortable in her own skin. That doesn't seem fair.

And I think Micheal Keaton was more deserving of the Best Actor Oscar than Eddy Redmayne. Oh well, tough nuts.

The ESPY's were the beginning of the end for ESPN being about sports. Now its all "outside the lines" type of stuff, much more similar to TMZ than a network dedicated to sports. Idk why it gets taken seriously,an ESPY is about a meaningful as a Dundie.

Keep watching until I build up into a seething rage and post stupid **** on the internet?

apparently.

I was lucky, this year. Disney's roving enforcement squads missed my house, so I wasn't forced to watch the ESPY's at gunpoint. Thank goodness for blackout curtains.

Thankfully Ron Hunter and his chair are more entertaining than Jerod Haase

Yeah, even if we had been one of the nominees I don't know that we would have "won" it.

Georgia State and Ron Hunter did have the signature moment of RJ hitting the game-winning shot from about 40 feet away or whatever it was, followed by his dad tumbling from his chair, which was admittedly awesome.

What's the signature moment from our game? Georges missing about 10 shots from inside the paint that he would normally make? BDJ possibly doing his best Bobby Knight impersonation at halftime and then pouting on the bench during the warm-ups before the 2nd half?

Anyway, like I wrote, very glad to see that it wasn't even a nominee.

If you keep picking at it then it's never going to heal.

Oh, I'll completely admit that I don't get over those kinds of losses easily or quickly. I could not watch basketball that day after we lost to UAB, and it turned out to be one of the best days of the tournament with all of the close, exciting games, but I just couldn't do it.

However, that's an improvement from 2001 when I practically destroyed my living room in my apartment in a fit of rage after the Hampton debacle.
