Back to Midlands this year

@DrewPariano: Iowa State back at the @MidlandsChamps Field is about to get even better....John @JohnSmithOKST you are next to commit!

Good to get back into the Midlands where there's actually some TV coverage. Does this mean we'll have to ditch one of the other two big tourneys we go to, the Scuffle or the Cliff Keen? Or can you go to as many as possible?

I'm sure this means no Scuffle this year. Midlands is always last few days of December and the Scuffle has been the first few days of January in recent years.

Cliff Keen was early December last year, very possible to still go to that. Their website still only has info on last years tournament.

Scuffle and Midlands are at the same time, so we wouldn't be able to go to both unless it was with split teams. I'm kind of disappointed, not because I dislike the Midlands but because I really like the Scuffle. The Scuffle has passed Midlands by and is now by far the premier Christmas/New Years tournament. Plus at the Midlands we'll see a lot of the same competition that we'll have already seen elsewhere during the season. With the Scuffle it got us to a different part of the country and competing against more varied teams.

I think Grapple at the Garden is around the same time as Cliff Keen, not sure if thats still a possibility.

looking at UNI's schedule from last year, the Grapple in the Garden was Dec 21st.

Have we been linked to the Grapple? Might have missed this.

I think KJ told me that they were invited to Grapple at the Garden and doing Midlands. I believe he also said we were still going to Cliff Keen.

We have Wyoming and Minnesota on the schedule also, in addition to Iowa, UNI, Oklahoma, and Ok State. I would assume West Virginia also, but with their travel schedule, I am not sure.

The Grapple is expensive (hotel, etc) to go to, so I know that was an issue. The reason they want to go is because Nationals are in New York and get a chance to get a feel for the venue and city.

I know this is why UNI skipped the Midlands last year for that exact reason.

The program celebrates its 100th year of wrestling on the OSU campus and brings in some big-time home matchups, including an early-season test against Minnesota on Nov. 29. The Pokes will also face North Carolina State (Dec. 6), Missouri (Jan. 22), Iowa State (Jan. 24), OU (Feb. 5), Army (Feb. 12), Stanford (Feb. 14) and North Carolina (Feb. 19) inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Outside on Nov 14th... could be perfect weather, could be a snowstorm.

If the weather isn't nice they will move it inside.

Pretty sweet if you're an Okie State wrestling fan. That event in the morning followed by the football game at JTS at night.

I know I"m late to this discussion, but there better be a decent reason for this. The field at Midlands last year was terrible compared to the Scuffle, and if the field isn't drastically better this year, I will be disappointed in the move.
