"Mystery Candidates"

Its clear TJ could only commit for one year and that's why he wasn't hired. Lutz was promised the job as his replacement. Why else would he return to Iowa State, which is a lateral move at best? (That was sarcasm).

See how stupid that sounds?

Huh? TJ would've been the coach here as long as he woulda been welcomed if he were hired as HC.

If TJ would have been HC his staff would have been Bobby Lutz and former NBA head coach Terry Porter...

Think people would have been excited about that staff?

Honestly, I wouldn't have been all that excited with that staff. Who would be the main recruiter? TJ is a great recruiter, but a head coach has too many responsibilities to be recruiting all the time. And Terry Porter was a pretty meh coach in the NBA.

But that's just my take.

I know, I was just making fun of those that were convince TJ was the coach since he came back. I pointed out that Lutz would also be making a similar return, so by the same logic, he would only be returning because he was promised the head coaching job. I wasn't serious. I know there is no way that would have actually been the case.

Ahh I gotcha haha and Porter would be a phenomenal recruiter. If you are a former NBA head coach you are going to be able to recruit in college.

Or you'll hate it because you never had to deal with that environment.
Or you don't have a personality for it. Thibs would probably struggle as a recruiter, but is an excellent coach.

I watched Porter play. He was outstanding. I didn't watch him coach, but don't see where it's relevant to his ability to be a college assistant.
I don't see any reason why Lutz would leave the same job back home in NC to come here and do it again. That would have been highly unlikely.

I'm just going to take your word for it, you seem to know Mr. Porter pretty well. Tell him that I was a big fan of Jerome Kersey and Kevin Duckworth back in the day if he could hook me up with an autograph or something. Oh, who am I kidding you probably know those guys pretty well, too. Can you hook me up?

They were awesome on the Bulls vs. Blazers game. I can try to get something pixelated for you.

Now that Leath has confirmed to y'all there are 3 "unknown" candidates, I'm going to leave it as that and not elaborate at this time since talk of those "other guys" would only diminish the support of the new guy.

:skeptical:

Leath said in the DM Rag that they interviewed SEVEN candidates! :swoon: WHO were the "Mystery 3?"

LeVelle Moton was one of them. I still think there's only 2 mysteries.

My sources (the voices in my head) tell me they were Mark Gottfried and John Beilein. Go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong

OH MAN...if even one of those is true...That said, if it was an 'interview' but in reality, neither of them was truly interested, I'm not as bummed.
