No because he was NOT committed to the job or doing the current job he is paid to do. He should have resigned at the end of the season. Period.

and in the outside chance the Bulls job did not open? Fred was essentially promised the Bulls job if it were to open. All along, there has been a small chance that it would not open (i.e. if the Bulls would of won a Championship, Reinsdorf stepped in and fired Gar, etc.), so there was no reason for Fred to resign. All Fred did was be honest.

Will be interesting to see who shares the most info...even Otz....he was hired in a heartbeat by CFH...he's been saying "We are preparing as Fred as our coach."

But, as we all know, THIS is what athletics/coaching is...."firmly entrenched," coach speak, etc.

It's not what he said or didn't say to a recruit, it's that he was in that position at all. You can't do that to a program. The work put in on Diallo thrown away because the coach wasn't really the coach. I'm moderate but that's not good.

Not really anything else he could do though. ISU is pretty much set roster wise for next year with CD being their only major target to impact the team (next year). CD wasn't going to come here with Fred leaving (even if he had committed). Bulls job wasn't open yet so it would be risky for Fred to step down (not a smart move). Don't think it really impacted ISU much as it seems he was up front about his decision to the people that mattered (recruits, players, administration, etc). Fans can be butthurt all they want but they're just fans.

Well, this is all BS. Another Earle Bruce, Gene Smith, Johnny Majors, Dan Gable, etc. screw over of ISU. I could name others too.

What if this is just a marvous troll job by Hoiberg? He just wants to see the level of crazy in the fan base. It's a test!

Just saw that, trying not to throw up.

Now we know why D.Williams left too. Totally explains the "I am really confused right now" comment from Diallo in early April and his delays. So do like we had a shot at him. Man we lost before we started. JSB may be right about everything afterall ;).

Clearly TJ was brought back to hold the team together, he was involved with recruiting most of them.
Sounds like the team knew way back when Fred was going to make the jump given Thomas comments.

I'm sorry, you can't blame Pollard for this.

Correct. This is 100% on Fred... who coincidentally just lost my vote for Mayor of Ames. The Iowa State version of this guy...

We don't need to bring that idiot into this...

Except he wasn't upfront with people if he really planned on leaving
