I don't believe the Bulls front office is as impatient or unrealistic as some are making them out to be. Thibs isn't being fired because he didn't win enough, he could have won a title this year and he still would have been fired.

Gasol's per 40 minute averages: 7 seasons for the Lakers: 17.9 pts/40, 10.0 reb/40. 1 season with Chicago: 19.4 pts/40, 12.3 reb/40. You are correct, Gasol is NOT the Laker Gasol. He's actually been more efficient in Chicago. His shooting % was down a little bit but he had an excellent year in Chicago overall.

If they fired him last year it would have been pure front office politics. The inability to do anything on offense in the Cavs series turned the public perception too.

Chicago fans are merciless, but the one advantage the Bulls coach has is the SNL skit is true. They are brainwashed DA BEARS fans 99% of the time. This Thibs news is probably only slightly cutting into what would have been 24 hours of solid Bears offseason talk on Chicago's sports radio. I'm not exaggerating that I think Rex Grossman alone was talked about more than the Bulls, Cubs and Sox combined during the years he played for Chicago (lived there for previous 14 years).

If the Bulls didn't have a silent commitment from their new coach, Thibs would still be on the payroll.
