I want what's best for ISU. Losing Fred to any other job doesn't seem to be in the best interest of ISU. Having this drag on and on sure doesn't seem to be in the best interest of ISU either.

Even so, You are talking then about close to $5 million per year. How about tying the extra $2 million as a bonus for winning the National Championship That is a lot of money for a Tourney best finish of a Sweet Sixteen.

Lebron and Kyrie are going to be there to torture you every year. They're going to have a third part of the triad (if not Love, then Aldridge or somebody instead), a veteran team full of ring-chasing veterans willing to take a pay cut to win and play with Lebron, and Lebron has historically proven to make those around him better by playing with them, keeping the team together, and acting almost like a player-coach.

Only thing that seems to scare them, from that article = Pop, Thibs, Rivers

The phrase was couldn't get past Bill Self so I think its fair to acknowledge Fred "getting past" Bill Self the last two Big 12 tournaments.

Fred is worth so much more to ISU than wins and losses. He is a national media darling that gets the school tons of extra press, and an ISU icon that sells a lot of tickets to Cyclone fans through name alone. Simply saying he only deserves pay equal to coaches who have accomplished what he has on the court does not recognize his true value to the university. He is worth breaking the bank for. Problem is it probably won't matter.

Yeah, I would be totally fine with paying him $2.5 million/year.
And if its true that there are rumblings of him getting fired after next season, we can also sell him on job security. Start with a 4-5 year contract.

Its funny that the article says that the Bulls are an organization that values character, yet that same organization is either trying to get of of paying there employee his contract via a trade or just to spite that employee, purposely delaying things so that he can't be a head coach next year. That may be a good competative move (preventing a good coach from coaching a team you are competing against) but there is nothing about that that says its a "high character" organization.

This is getting overblown. Every organization is going to do what they think is best for them. Period.

Even the Bulls fans know it is time to move on from Thibodeau and if they can save some cash by trading him or whatever, they are going to do it. They do not care about Iowa State or our feelings...it is just the reality of the business.

So the Cavs and Warriors with younger, less injury-prone rosters weren't enough to lure him away from ISU, but the Bulls are a perfect match? This is the type of "reporting" that people are getting annoyed with on the whole story. A lot of media throwing things at the wall without any support. Hoiberg may leave, but the media frenzy around it is what is really hurting ISU more than losing CFH would be.
