"When asked why he thought T.J. Otzelberger left his program to return to Fred Hoiberg's Cyclones staff, Romar said:
"I think if you look in the next few months it will become pretty obvious. And I'll just leave it at that.""

This from DMR earlier this spring... Not sure but likely brought up in other threads re: this topic.

I was reminded of this as well. People were joking around that it meant Hoiberg was leaving but it's not so funny now. :p

If the Hornacek rumors hold true and he does come to ISU, would it be likely his daughter would be willing to accompany Jeff with the big recruits when they come to Ames on visits? I have a feeling they would very much enjoy that.

Best post of the day!! Hahaha.. She has got that Czech blood in her. Majority of Czech decent women are beautiful.

I am leaning towards that Hoiberg guy myself.

Not enough head coaching experience. Needs about *15-20 more years at the same school so we know he'll be loyal to ISU.

*ish.

If both Hoiberg and Henry leave it will be that much more important that the next HC is offensively skilled.

I also go back to Georges' moms comment of "trust me the last thing you want is TJ back".

i just assumed she didn't like TJ but maybe there was more to it. Or I'm just going crazy reading this BS for the last two weeks.

I'm still hoping Fred decides to stay. I don't care who we hire, Fred leaving would be a total disaster for ISU.

I used to think the same way, but the longer this drags on, the more I'm changing my thinking. Most think he's gone and so does probably every recruit (if not now , then the year after, etc. ). I don't think Matt A. leaves for St. John's if he thought Fred would be at ISU for another 10 years. Likewise, I think both Matt leaving and the heart surgery has elevated Fred's desire to speed up the lure of coaching in the NBA.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. Of course Fred staying is everyone's first choice. But we've had good times pre-Fred. And bad times too.

Hornacek played college ball with Grayer. Grayer has pushed for an assistant job at ISU for some time now. Any chance Hornacek would go after Grayer as an assistant especially considering his close relationship with top 2016 recruit Miles Bridges? You'd have to think thatd turn us into the frontrunner.

Ooh me likey.

So some expect Hornacek to coach the Suns for one more year and then have his contract not renewed, and then think about ISU; OR that he'd skip his last year of his contract to come to ISU for next season? Or am I reading this wrong?

I read it this way: since the word is that there is interest from both camps, Jeff would leave one year prior his contract ending. My guess is that if Jeff sees himself without a job after next year, he might be willing to leave a year early to guarantee an additional five years. I'm not in the know, it's just how I read that.
