Random thoughts III

I was thinking recently how I had not seen any Mesa posts in a long time. Now he pops up in the Memorial Day thread.

Not that I missed him.

just put my only black dress in the donate pile after DH said the only place I would possibly wear it would be to an Amish funeral.

We both agreed I'd probably go buy a new black dress before wearing this one. Also think I may have gotten in it middle school.

Well, now that you have the frumpy Amish dress out of the wardrobe you have room for the ubiquitous Little Black Dress that needs to be in every young gals closet. Don't forget new shoes too.

00clone's CPR "so proud" moment: Had a meatloaf onna smoker, back and forth from the kitchen while Mrs. 00clone had the kids in the garage (I grill/smoke in the garage). 4.5 year old asked me to draw the I-State logo on the garage floor, so I did. Was back inside, came back out, and 4.5 year old said "Dad, look what I drew!". I looked, and took a second to interpret 4.5 year old to english alphabet...he had gone back and forth from the yard sign we got last weekend at Hilton, and written "Forever ONE" on the garage floor right below the I-State logo.

uh, no. It's just a good time to go through stuff since we haven't moved in five years.

This is the good way to be. Yesterday I started packing up my shoes and clothes that I won't need to wear for a while, and while packing shoes I was like "Am I really going to wear these heels? They hurt my feet and haven't been worn in about 5 years" so into the donate pile they went. I've done this with my clothing several times over the past few years. When threatened with having to carry all of this stuff to a new place, it really makes you want to get rid of things.

So my last couple years of college, I moved twice a year...either for my co-op sessions in CR, or switching apartments in Ames. Going into it, I evaluated everything with the concept of "Do I want to move this twice a year?" Needless to say, **** got real light thru that. Yet, when we moved from our first home to our second home, I was all "WTF do I still have this for?????!!?!?!?!" when packing things up. Annnnd, I'm sure new home has plenty of stuff that we should pitch...but I will say, I'm doing better. I got rid of 2 outdoor cooking apparati (what's the plural of apparatus?) in the last year...a redundant turkey fryer/beer boiler, and a gas grill that I no longer use with the weber kettle and traeger pellet grill available.

FYI to CG and 55 when donating, you can write off all clothing donations on your taxes. And if you claim 499.00 or less, you don't need proof of receipt either (though Goodwill will give you a form where you put in whatever you think the value of your donations are). I donated like, 12 full garbage bags full of clothes and knick-knacks when I moved.

absolutely. When I left college, everything fit in my 2-door Celica. DH and I moved 18 times during college and when it's just you doing the moving, you keep just the essentials. I have recently gotten rid of a lot of college-era stuff that didn't really get gone through after I moved it up here. But now knowing it's going to be carried and need a spot in the new place......I'm like I don't really want to move this. Out it goes.

There was quite a bit of stuff yesterday that I helped move and thought I bet they could go through and get rid of some of this. Gave me extra motivation today to go through more strictly. I realized their house had a lot more clutter than ours does. Not in a judgy way...I realize my parents' is the same way. I don't like having stuff all over - like closet floors and drawers just full of random crap. Trying to not get into that habit and getting rid of junk now will help not make clutter in the new place.

I've given a few bags of stuff to Goodwill so far but I didn't know how to accurately estimate the cost of what I donated since most wasn't super new clothing or stuff like that.

Don't you still have to carry them to goodwill?

Rhubarb crisp is on the menu tonight. Baked it in a Pyrex pie dish so it would seem more like pie.

Looks like pie. Taste test later. Could be a big moment in breaking a decades old rhubarb baking dependency where I needed others to bake it.

The rhubarb plant itself is older than most CF posters. It was here when I moved in and assumed ownership from Martha and Torbian, the elderly Norwegian couple I bought my house from. I don't typical grow "food" but this old plant seems like part of the property.

Dammit, yes. But I won't have to re-move them in a few years when I decide I want to move into a different apartment. The civic only had so much room.
What i do is just put **** on my lawn with a "free" sign on it. Then it magically disappears and I don't have to lift anything beyond pushing it out the door.

Those are ******* pajamas. You know what's hot on a woman? A nice pair of jeans and an off the shoulder type sweatshirt or shirt. Quit acting like you might accidentally trip and fall into a night club every moment you're awake.
Wait... You don't find that attractive on a woman? Well I guess I'll formally welcome you to 2015 where this is a pretty popular trend
