Pre-Memorial Day Hoiberg NBA Update

NBA is ok, but it sucks compared to CBB. CBB is more fun to watch and the fans and atmosphere is much better. I'll take players playing for the love of the game and their university over watching millionaires playing basketball against other millionaires that only care about their next pay check.

Deandre Kane, Will Clyburn, Royce White, BDJ, Chris Allen, and Korie Lucious approve this message.

You call dribbling around the perimeter and not really looking to get a shot til less than 10 seconds fundamentals? I'm not sure if you realize that "Hoiball" is referred to as a pro-style offense (not that UNLV garbage). Do you like watching ISU? Cause then you should like watching many NBA teams

When I watch Golden State and Houston, there are plenty of times that I think I am watching ISU.

Fred has to have been presented with how his leaving will affect ISU. The nut punch from the ball boy who became our hero.

ISU has clearly offered (or will offer) a new sweeter deal that would keep Fred at ISU for a while.

Our President knows the value of this Hoiberg led bball program and has pulled out all the stops. He clearly like his chances of Fred taking the new deal.

If he leaves he is losing more than we are.

I sure hope that you're on your "A" game with your sources, beca. When the effort to keep Fred comes from Leath that is upping the ante. Now maybe the legislature and the governor should chip in. Give Fred an economic development grant to stay here!

The NBA is a better game because the superstars get 5 steps to the basket. Makes for some coolio jams!

Maybe even a hop, skip and jump in between! Maybe they should just go ahead and eliminate the dribble requirement for them.

Back on topic,

Do we think the Bulls fire Thibs on Tuesday if they don't get a deal this weekend?

I think the Bulls are inept. They have probably promised Fred a high draft pick which they intended to receive from Thibs trade, and it is becoming less likely all the time. Maybe the holiday will clear some of the fog.

So transfers are incapable of loving the game or loving their university? I don't ever hear Royce White talking about how great the Gophers are or Kane talking about Marshall.

Wat? They transferred to ISU because they thought it was their best chance to make the league. If you think they came to Ames because the loved ISU you are crazy.

The whole point is they aren't getting paid, obviously they have their own personal goals to make the league. In the NBA it's all about the pay check. I'm already bored with this argument, so we can move on.

Your words, not mine.

Absolutely. It's quite clear he's exploring the NBA options and will do so in future years because he will continue to be pursued strongly by the NBA. Time to move on to the next coach.

I hate to say it, maybe this is the acceptance phase, but I tend to agree that Fred needs to crap or get off the pot soon. If he plans to go to the NBA this year or next he should step down from ISU now and say he has decided to recover from his surgery and then take the next phase of his life on in the NBA and leave ISU in good hands with a loaded team etc. If he wants to stay commit with a raise and a 5m buyout that decreases by a million each year.

How come we never hear about other coaches leaving, i.e Bill Self, Mike Krzyzewski, John Calipari and others. These guys are great coaches and have won national championships, but we never here of them going anyway. Why is it, every time ISU gets a good coach the first thing we here is when and where are they going? Do they dislike the University and fans that much they want to get out?
