Pre-Memorial Day Hoiberg NBA Update

This is killing recruiting, we will pay two three years down the road. Unless Fred is still not feeling well, he owes everyone at least a comment

Don't think his agent or attorney would agree

I wouldn't grade saying essentially nothing as 'perfect'. I agree there is not much to be said at this point, however.

As far as handling the situation 'perfectly', I'm more concerned about what Jamie does after Fred leaves. Which way does he go?-- a Fred hire or a McD hire? He's done both.

Leave it to ISU to deliver the biggest kick to the stones in the most protracted way possible. Its almost poetic our "chosen one" is the one to deliver the most painful nut kick of all.

For those considering this a "nut kick", what was your expectations on the duration Fred would coach here? Wasn't this "nut kick" inevitable, as there was no way he was going to be a 15-20 year coach?

I think some may to revisit the definition of the word "owe". What exactly does Fred owe to us? Has he borrowed from us? Have we as fans done something for him personally? Quite the contrary IMO. I want Fred here until he retires. I think he is leaving. I know nothing. Actually, I do know something. I will be a Clone Fan regardless. Lastly, I wish we were decent at football, so we had that to talk about!

Yes, w/o fans there is no Hilton Magic. W/o Hilton Magic Fred doesn't become a commodity.

I owe Fred / Fred owes me...it's the symbiotic coach / fan relationship.

LOL...if you are emotionally invested in one guy who coaches a college basketball team, whom you probably don't even know on a personal level, I feel bad for you. I think you get my point.

Who's angry? Wow...half of CF. Let me help you with the concept...I have no issue with people being restless or having opinions about him needing to say something...but when people say **** like "his reputation is tarnished" or "I'm losing respect for him", I believe that to be the biggest load of ******** I've read in a long time.

I hope he stays too...and it would disappoint me on a number of levels that he might leave, but none of which include thinking less of him or his association with ISU.

Guess we as a fan group will not be wrapped around the axle for local boy coaches come the future. A lot of fan love was invested because he was local as was Paul. Truth be known people are more about winning after all.

I honestly thought around 10 years. Hoped for his whole career but realistically I thought 10 would be good to accomplish things here that had never been accomplished and set the program up for sustained high level success.

I see your points, but has his dreams. I just hope he knows that the fan base is absolutely going to go crazy when he leaves. He will have broke the lifelong bond with the fan base.

Could you explain why that's your opinion? How does this 'destroy his legacy'?

no ****! I have no concept of how that works. Like he's indebted to us for him being good as a player and coach and us supporting him??? WTF?

The fanatical wing of the fan base will go crazy, but you guys go crazy every couple of months anyway. the bulk of the non-fanatical fan base will wish him well and still view him as The Mayor.

So 5 years is a killer "nut kick", but 10 years wouldn't be?

I was just commenting on how long I thought he'd be here. It would be a lot easier for me to stomach if he was here 10 years and got us to a couple final fours and beyond.

I don't know, I talked to some non-crazies, and the seemed like they were upset with him.
