My MBB short list for coaches.

How about that coach from North Carolina Central? He seemed pretty cool and knew how to run an offense.

Yes. But he is at his alma mater like Fred. But unlike what seems to happen with Iowa state, he wants to be there.

I'll throw my choice in Larry Krystkowiak from Utah. Pro playing and coaching experience, doesn't seem to really have geographical bias as to where he works.

Wait...no bias geographical wise? Didnt he also play pro ball in Utah and is now coaching there?

He would be a fantastic hire. I have heard great things about him and his team is fun to watch.

Link to Fred saying he doesn't want to be at iowa state. Thx

if he leaves, he doesn't want to be. And that is fine. He can do what he wants. But by leaving, he's saying the nba is more important to him and his family.

Thank god you arent iowa states AD.

I was thinking the same, if thats all the thought process to put into it from Pollard then we are doomed. Absolutely doomed. I honestly think we narrow it down IF.....IF for some reason we do lose fred and i hope to god we dont then we step up the pay grade to get a darn good coach in because ill up my donor level and start a gofundme account for the next coach. I cant deal with the days of horrible basketball and horrible football programs again, i just cant.

If Hornacek wouldn't come, and if ISU wouldn't do Larry 2.0 I think I would rather have Jacobsen over Lutz, TJ or Doc Saddler(good grief). I know McDermott kind of spoiled that for Jacobsen but I would rather have him than those choices.

of course. But he loves uni and coaching there. If would could transfer his life goals and loyalty to our coach we wouldn't have this problem.

Again, it just sucks that our legend doesn't like it enough to stay.

Here are my top 3 in no particular order, if Fred were to leave.

1. Hornacek. An ISU guy who has had success in the NBA with a limited roster in Phoenix. If he can be lured from the NBA to ISU, he'd likely stay as long as he had success and wanted to keep coaching.

2. Larry E. Arguably the most successful (and controversial) coach in history, only guy to win a regular season conference title for ISU in the past 50 years, only guy to make it to the Elite 8 in recent history. He's a good coach and has had success everywhere he's been. Like Hornacek, I think he'd stay at ISU long term if he had success.

3. Larry Krystkowiak. Very successful at both Utah and Montana as a coach, fgot canned as an interim coach with the bucks. Not sure if we could even pull him away from Utah, as he might view coming to us as a lateral move now that they are a force in the Pac-12, but it would be worth a try.

Billy clyd. He wanted it 5 years ago. Why not now? He's unemployed.

Dave bliss could be had.

If you were JP and always had to have a short list who would it be?

Mine would be T.J. Otzelberger, Bobby Lutz and Doc Sadler if he would be willing to keep the uptempo process.

I'll take it you inadvertently left off Matt Abdelmassih, and you are not prejudiced. :spinny:
