Random thoughts III

This may not end well for the sponsorship i was working on with Pacific Rim wine.

Random thought: If one were to gain employment with Pacific Rim wines...would one tell people that they got a Pacific Rim job?

Probably baking utensils/products, building materials, boat shoes, bicycles, night vision goggles and Rastafarian hats.

No Pork?!?!?!?!?!!

An actual sponsorship from one of those sites would be just too amazing.

Perhaps they could send an intern.

just spent 80 minutes on the phone with Home Depot because UPS couldn't get a package here from Chicago. 80 minutes. I feel like I stepped into stormchaser's life of shipping shenanigans.

Another new potential sponsor--garage door company. :( The sound of a garage door spring snapping is not what you want to hear at 8:30pm. Although that was better than if it would've happened at 7am when hubby was leaving for work. Was able to get the vehicles parked outside last night, door will be repaired this afternoon. Any bets I will hear "Happy Mother's Day" after we pay that bill?

Would you have had better luck talking to UPS about their shipping issues?

Or were they ping-ponging you (i.e. "It's UPS's fault, call them" "No, this is handled by Home Depot, you ought to be talking to them")?

no, Home Depot handled it, it just took foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever to get done. Cancelled the missing and reordered. Which I didn't really want since I had ordered through ebates and got an extra 3% off that I would lose. So she gave me 10% but it only comes out to 5% by my calculations. Still less than what I originally paid but her computer must have been a dinosaur for as slow as she said it was being (which I don't doubt). Lots of time on hold.

That was just Pants bait. :jimlad:

I actually spent time on both. When in Panama, my hometown was on the Pacific Ocean side, when I lived in Puerto Rico, of course it was all Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

Fun fact: The Pacific Ocean sits lower than the Atlantic Ocean. Hence why the Panama Canal needs locks and is not just a straight way across.

I got to see the locks once on vacation. It was pretty neat as a ten year old.

So, is it nicer to the sitter to have Subway for lunch and make her cut up the veggies for the toddler or make her cook something (pizza/chicken nuggets)?

I am also tempted to just buy already cut bell pepper and a bag of Doritos. She loves them.

My wife apparently just got one of those offers to come listen to a presentation on time shares and get a free cruise. My answer was a quick no. Do people actually fall for this?

I think it depends on how much you get to enjoy x event vs how long you get pressured to buy into it.

Depends on the cruise, and your resistance levels.

If it's a three or more day cruise for two in the Caribbean (or better), with your choice of sail dates vs a 2-3 hour presentation, I'd say go for it.

If it's a dinner cruise on Lake Okoboji, hell to the no.

It's all in the fine print. Make them spell it out before you agree, and you could get a decent vacation out of a few hours of high pressure sales tactics. :)

We listened to a half-hour sales pitch in Vegas once, and got an in-depth tour of Hoover dam, along with 100 in chips each. Nice tour, $200 entertainment "money" for a half-hour of boredom. I don't even remember what the product was any more. :)

Yeah. The payoff could be great. Or it could suck. Oh and I hate salesmen.
