Favorite World City

1. Baden Baden, Germany- nice small town in southwestern Germany. A few interesting sites in the surrounding areas. I'm biased on this one because I have a few really good German friends from the area.
2. Salzburg, Austria- only was able to spend 1 day here and I really regret that. Loved what I got to see from the city and there was quite a bit I know I missed out on.
3. London, England- this trip is a bit hazier as I was younger when I went here but I loved the UK as a whole(even went to school their for a month) great trip/ living experience which I hope to refresh in the next few years.
4. Munich, Germany-very nice place for a big city. Good beer and food, center hub for attractions in Bavaria.
5. Bergen, Norway- again this was when I was younger(only about 8 for this one) but I remember enjoying the fjords and mountains. Another trip I'd like to make again.

Least Favorite- France in general. Overall the people were not as friendly, less liable to speak English to you and the areas dirtier than the other cities I've visited.

Next European trip I'd like to get a bit further east to Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria. If I come out there anytime soon I may just take you up on that offer Phaedrus!

Shanghai, China was pretty cool, went to the top of the Jin Mau tower, which I believe is the second tallest building in the world.
Istanbul, Turkey was also quite impressive. (or was it Constantanople)

Just got back from London, as evidenced by my new signature line. First time outside of North America at age 47. It's a whole big world out there, very enlightening. Amazing architecture. Looking forward to seeing more of Europe.

Berlin and Dresden. The capitals of the Baltic States (Tallinn (Estonia), Riga (Latvia), and Vilnius (Lithuania)). Stockholm. Amsterdam. St. Petersburg.

I thought Tallinn was pretty sweet. Stockholm was interesting, but I enjoyed Copenhagen and Helsinki more. Berlin is one of the coolest cities in the world too, I forgot it earlier on my list.

I'm jealous you got to see St. Petersburg....someday.

When did you go? I've always wanted to go but have heard there are safety issues.

I visited Cape Town in the late 1990's and at least then never had any safety concerns...plenty of police, etc.

The wine producing Stellenbosch area just to the east is a beautiful trip as well.

Seriously, while I'm often busy in training cycles, if I'm not, I'll stand good for that offer for anyone who can make it to the Munich/Nuernberg/Regensburg area.

Capetown, South Africa

Table Mountain above the habor, simply beautiful.....
One of my brothers works for the US State Department and has visited most of the major world cities. He ranks Capetown right towards the top.

I'm with CyRevkah on this one:biggrin:

Petra isn't really a city anymore, but it was really cool! (No, we didn't find the Holy Grail:no:)

See your problem was you were in the wrong country - the Holy Grail is in Valencia, Spain

Or atleast thats what they claim.... it's in a Cathedral what was about a 25 minute walk from where I stayed, and just a couple buildings down from a McDonalds... (Yes, McDonalds has that long of a reach)

All of New Zealand particularly Christchurch, Wellington or Queenstown.
One day you're on a glacier hiking/sliding around, the next day you're 60 feet underground floating down a river.
Not to mention, bunjy jumping, skydiving, hang gliding and any other extreme sport you want to throw in.
One of the cleanest countries you will find in the World.

I knew I did something wrong along the way.

McDonald's reaches all the way to Israel, too!

In Cairo, there was a Little Caesar's across the street from our hotel hotel. I hadn't seen one of them in a loooong time

McDonald's has NOTHING on Starbucks, though. Does the term, "Can't swing a dead cat without hitting one" mean anything to anyone?
