Favorite World City

It's a little ghetto but it's very easy to use since it only goes in 2 directions.

Yeah - completely around the city though... best transportation in Rome is your two feet. In terms of public transportation, Rome is far behind, understandably - and the bus systems are WAY confusing - took me living there to figure it all out - I've heard some people's experiences visiting Rome were ruined because of transportation lacking. The Metro in Paris is like any other subway, with transfers and such - very easy to use though, and I only visited it.

That is quite true.

Now if you want a city with public transportation, hit up Berlin. While they had more modes of public transit than I had time to try... I especially liked the U-bahn though (elevated rail system... I have always liked elevated rail to subways because then you can see the city as you travel )

I enjoyed walking around Jerusalem and going to different areas in Israel.

I also liked Cairo, but I only had time to go see the pyramids.

My travels have been limited to North and South America, but my favorite would have to be Quebec City. It's almost like you're in a whole other country there.

Kids definitely make everything tougher. Actually, though, if you didn't travel in college you missed out on the absolute best chance. I haven't come close to getting out of the country since undergrad. Luckily I did pretty well prior to that. Kudos to those that are actually able to pick up and MOVE to some of these places. I'm not positive I would want to live there but I do know that I never had the guts to seriously try!

The problem is, when you are first starting out you do not have the $$ to travel, once you start having extra $$, you end up having kids and then you have no time to travel. I would leave the country 3 times a year if I could, but now we have kids, and cannot travel much.

I'm trying to figure out where to go next year and am thinking about flying into Amsterdam first. What is there to do there besides smoke pot and sleep with hookers (not that there is anything wrong with either)?

I believe the Rembrandt Museum is there, and it's great to get out to the Dutch countryside. The Anne Frank Museum is very good, too.

I'm having trouble remembering what we did in Amsterdam...

Don't forget the sex museum in Amsterdam.

The Van Gogh Museum is there also, largest collection of Van Goghs in the world. I think there were some Monets and Piscassos in there also.

Amsterdam is really a beatiful city once you get away from the Red Light/Coffeeshop district. Lots of canals, beautiful parks. If I went back I'd rent a bike for an afternoon and wander.

That said, the Red Light/Coffeeshop part is pretty fun too. You see stuff there you'd never see in the states, that's for sure. But after one day of that I was ready to leave (I think I remember saying, "I need to go someplace that has RULES").

I would say Tokyo and NYC are my favorites but I'm leaving for Europe in two weeks, so I imagine ill find a couple of other favs there.

I was made in America's Heartland

(For those that don't get it, this is set 1000 years from now)

Prague. One of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, especially now that they've been cleaning it up from the lack of care of the Communist government.

Too many places to pick a favorite. A short list though:
Venice
Rome
London
Bermuda (its not that big so the whole island kind of qualifies)

I hit these cities a few years ago and would go back to all of them in a second:
-Prague (architecture is phenomenal)
-Berlin (sooo much history)
-Amsterdam (just a big party town, but with crazy people from across the globe...actually, I probably wouldn't ever go back)
-Paris (amazing food and art)
